Sunday night update: Agent Drew Rosenhaus said on his weekly segment on WSVN-Fox 7 that it's unlikely Yeremiah Bell will return to the Dolphins.
The Dolphins and Rosenhaus had discussions about Bell re-signing with Miami after he was released last month, but those talks did not work out, Rosenhaus said. Instead, the Dolphins signed former Vikings free agent strong safety Tyrell Johnson.
Rosenhaus said he could see a scenario in which Johnson and Reshad Jones compete at strong safety (Bell's former position with Miami), and Chris Clemons and Jimmy Wilson compete at free safety. Jones started 12 games at free safety last season, but his skill set is well-suited for strong safety. Wilson played cornerback last season but has experience playing safety at Montana, and the Dolphins have given thought to moving him there.
The Eagles, Jets and Patriots reportedly have expressed interest in Bell. If he signs with the Patriots, he would be the second member of last year's Dolphins secondary to sign there, joining Will Allen.

jimmy wilson at free might not be a bad thing...he's got ball skills he's a willing tackler and he's physical...reshad jones and tyrell johnson is fine comp at strong...only way that would change imo is if mark barron somehow ended up here...

still at free safety i'm not sleeping on a 3rd round pick on brandon taylor...

I keep hearing that the FS and SS will be almost interchangeable in the new D. Either way, I'm glad to hear that Jones is finally moving to SS.

Can't be worse than last season hugh..I think clemons and Jones can do the job actually or jimmy wilson..we did not put our players in positions to succeed last year..just looked at some clyde gates highlights and didn't give the man the dang ball at all past season.hopefully Phil changes that.

I am still worried about Safety. Even with the signings and competitions there is no sure thing at arguably the most important position on your D outside of maybe LB. It would have been nice if they moved Jones last season but Sparano didn't.

Clemons and Wilson scare me at FS as well, Clemons is widely inconsistent and I think Jimmy would be better suited at corner. I think Wilson has the potential to make the switch, I just don't know if he does and that is what concerns me, all the uncertainty at Safety, it would be nice to have one starter penciled in right now.

all valid...and thus why i'm sayin don't sleep on brandon taylor at free safety with one of those two high 3rd rounders...i'm more worried about free than strong...reshad jones can handle strong and tyrell johnson is good camp comp and can maybe win the job...free a whole lot of questions

you know though i forgot about richard marshall so he could be in play at free here also... totally forgot about him...dang

We have plenty of safeties now, especially if Marshall is played at his better position of FS. The issue is nickel corner. Wilson has the ability to excel at that spot but he's too young to have it just handed to him. That's why I don't rule out us taking a corner in the 1st.

yeah i forgot about marshall so i think with coyle we can field a solid safety combo with what we have...nickel corner i agree a concern as is boundary starting cb after this year or in the event sean smith is traded...but what corner is good value for us at #8??? claiborne is long gone by then and no one else validates a top 10 pick...

i'm still keeping brandon taylor at free in play for us in the 3rd round...i've been hearing a lot of marshall is here to play cb talk

I'm pretty confident Marshall will play nickel corner - it's the one position he's looked good at

Which would be a good way to kick some dirt over your true intentions. I see what you mean about not getting top 10 "value" (though, consider the fact that this is the FO that took a center @ 15 last year), so maybe it works better as a trade down.

What's this with a Sean Smith trade? I've seen you mention this before. I know you're not a fan so is that just wishful thinking on your part :D?

earlier there were reports smith was on the block...not sure if true...doubt we'd get much anyways...probably makes more sense to keep him one more year to not open yet another hole and let him go next year barring some low contract expectations...i'd still be looking for a starting boundary cb in the very near future...smiths not good enough

oh how sweet would it be to have Claiborne miraculously fall to us so we could finna end the sean smith experiment...
