I'll be honest; I HATED Matt Moore. I hated how he was terrible when he took over for Chad Henne in week 4 of the 2011 season. i hated how he lost his next three games with the Dolphins to knock them out of the playoff race. I hated how he decided to play well AFTER the team was out of it. I hated how his second half play that season cost the Dolphins Andrew Luck. I hated how so many people wanted Moore to take Tannehill's job, as if that wouldn't ruin the confidence of a young quarterback. I hated how he made so much money to hold a clip board.
But you know what? It was worth it. All of it. All the years of paying him to stand on the sidelines. All the reminders of 2011. He made up for all of it in a December stretch that we have not seen in a LONG time. Watching the Raiders Texans game last night was a reminder that if you don't have a capable backup quarterback, you are screwed. Houston will likely learn next weekend how bad things get when you don't have a capable starting quarterback. Of all the challenges the Dolphins will face today, throwing the ball is not among them. I am confident that Moore will play well enough to win today.
If he does, the Matt Moore legend reaches incredible new heights. If he doesn't, Moore will still always be the guy who saved the Dolphins season when things looked bleak on that rainy day against the Cardinals, as Tannehill laid on the ground in agonizing pain.
So thank you Matt Moore. Thank you for proving me wrong and showing your fans why you were always worth it.
