I'll be honest; I HATED Matt Moore. I hated how he was terrible when he took over for Chad Henne in week 4 of the 2011 season. i hated how he lost his next three games with the Dolphins to knock them out of the playoff race. I hated how he decided to play well AFTER the team was out of it. I hated how his second half play that season cost the Dolphins Andrew Luck. I hated how so many people wanted Moore to take Tannehill's job, as if that wouldn't ruin the confidence of a young quarterback. I hated how he made so much money to hold a clip board.

But you know what? It was worth it. All of it. All the years of paying him to stand on the sidelines. All the reminders of 2011. He made up for all of it in a December stretch that we have not seen in a LONG time. Watching the Raiders Texans game last night was a reminder that if you don't have a capable backup quarterback, you are screwed. Houston will likely learn next weekend how bad things get when you don't have a capable starting quarterback. Of all the challenges the Dolphins will face today, throwing the ball is not among them. I am confident that Moore will play well enough to win today.

If he does, the Matt Moore legend reaches incredible new heights. If he doesn't, Moore will still always be the guy who saved the Dolphins season when things looked bleak on that rainy day against the Cardinals, as Tannehill laid on the ground in agonizing pain.

So thank you Matt Moore. Thank you for proving me wrong and showing your fans why you were always worth it.

I always argued with my fellow fin fan who hates Matt, that in spite of what he can't do physically he is a professional
NFL qb who has seen it all. He knows this offense like the back of his hand, he moves surprisingly well in the pocket and has a puck it attitude. Thill can learn from him watching how he drifts in the pocket to avoid sacks. I think the media is grossly under estimating what he can do. I wouldn't bet a red cent on winning this game, there just seems on the surface to be too much stacked against us, but something in my gut tells me were gonna shock these fools

I always liked the guy - always seemed like a good person and teammate. Really like your post - good read.

I agree with you. I thought he was a good sideline guy who really didn't want to play and a pick off machine as well. He has impressed me and if he does well today I won't be surprised. I was wrong about him.

I always thought it was silly to get beat down like the Fins did on that fateful day:

Why did Matt Moore stay on the sideline holding a clip board the entire contest when it was clear after 1 quarter of play that RT and the offense were out of sorts and would NEVER get it going in the that game? My point is...Sometimes a team needs a spark or a shock to the system if you will. It does not mean MM would take RT's starting job permanently but it could make a difference in a particular game...Maybe it would have made a difference in the Baltimore debacle but even if it would not have, could it have gone any worse?

If nothing else...it keeps your higher paid and better prepared Starter from getting injured in a meaningless loss.

teams used to do this more than they do today. In fact, you rarely see it anymore. I think the HCs are reluctant because of the media circus that inevitably awaits you after making such a decision.

Matt Moore is the man for the way he's handled this. God bless him!!

I think you are spot on but if that is true it makes you consider a ugly truth...Maybe the top priority is no longer the same as in Shula's day and there has been agreements made between owners/coaches & players that a starter IS always the starter & a backup IS always the backup unless injury befalls them. No matter the outcome of the game (or the season) the Starter goes down with the ship. I like Shula's way better...Just WIN baby....By any means necessary.

I agree. Imagine all those games Strock spelled Woodley and the dynamic changed for that game? Today, I doubt anyone does that and that team never gets to that SB.

I said it all along. The guy is a legit player and person. The best back-up in the NFL. No doubt he could do what he has done. I am glad he got to show it as their were MANY doubters.

Hopefully he rolls with it today and we know he will lay it ALL out on the line.
