What do you do if you are Saban? I realize Holmes is likely to be promoted to the roster leaving Jones's roster spot to fill. And a db will likely be signed. But what do you do with players not performing up to snuff? Howard, Boston, and any one of the OL.

I don't want to mail in the season, but I believe it is time to make decisions on who is with the program and who is not. I might agree with Saban that Howard's issue is one of confidence. I don't really expect him to be cut. He would have been cut long ago if Saban didn't know his effort. I do not expect several of the OL to return. There will be an overhaul there.

I do expect new LBs, DL, DBs, OL, and WRs next year. McMichael, Brown, and maybe Chambers are the guys that stay put. But I see continued roster movement next season, but I also expect more action this year within reason.

What do you guys think? I will be at the game on Sunday in Baton Rouge. I hope to see a few Dolphin fans there.

i think for the most part our roster isn't going ot take another 50% changeover... a lot of stop gaps will be replaced in the draft or FA... i think CB will be a big concern as will getting younger on the DLine and LBs...

our oline is young and progressing, i really dont see much turnover in that department, they will continue to grow and maybe houck will bring in 1 or 2 new pieces to the puzzle, but oline development usually takes a while, and i think saban will give it the time it needs... QB is the only position on offense where i think a change is necessary... i think our WRs and RB situation is fine and as they grow more and more in the system as long as we have an accurate QB and get more time from our Oline, we'll be fine...

Hmm, that isn't what Nick thinks about our WR situation.

I agree... RB we are set.. OL will probably be minimal change Center and perhaps a T. WRs i think Chambers and Booker are set... maybe draft a nice #3 WR

OLB, DL, CB , S will be the spots were we need more help...

Maybe draft a #1 WR, and be set with the #2 and #3 we have now.

um, I get rid of heath Evans and play more H-back and Ronnie/Ricky, with Ronnie getting the 2-1 ratio of carries. Like we just witnessed KC do.

Not a fan of drafting a WR in the first round..

Chambers and Booker are still very solid.. if we have a QB that can get them the ball.. a rookie WR next year to bring more speed and youth...

I would think that Boston isn't going anywhere unless he signs an injury waiver, which he is unlikely to...with our current CB situation, I would also doubt that Howard is going anywhere...as poor as he is playing, there just isn't anyone else with any game experience...

Welker is our #3 WR. As far as I'm concerned I want to keep thim there!.. He's the only guy playing consistently. I would like to draft a real speedy WR.. somebody with lights out speed.
We need a CB... maybe 2, Madison is in the twilight of his career and we need to theink proressively.
I don't know why Saban is hesitant to bring in a CB now... I there is a good one out there.. we all know his name... and he could make an immediate impact.
This offseason will be interesting... Thank good ness we have a ton of cap space.. we're going to need it!

i would never consider us set at WR with what we got. Wes Welker is our best WR now. Booker and CC could be gone (Booker more likely)with the pickup of a speedy WR with bigtime play, which is what we will be drafting next year.

Saban is simply surveying the landscape this year. Next year big changes for the long term are more in order for this team.

The reason Saban doesnt bring in another CB is because he knows Will Poole has what it takes to be a starter in this league and he wants to at least try to give him a roster spot if he can make it back in time. I think we see Poole back if we start to be competetive and looking like a team the playoffs might be possible for, if not, he sits the season, no point in rushing it for a losing season.

I would expect one or two LB's, Seau seems to have health concerns, time to retire. Crowder should remain where he is, he's doing a good job. Zach is a franchise player with two or three seasons left after this one...

WR's, Booker is getting up there in age. Chambers should fight an up and comer for the 1 spot. Welker will be a Dolphin like Chrebet in New York with MAD return skills. Boston may retire if he doesn't start progressing more.

QB - Who knows, Saban WILL take a savy veteran if one is available. Draft one too and develop a third.

RB - From what the coach has said he just wants a prototype blocking FB for the running game with minimal receiving skills. Ronnie will be a MONSTER next year, could be this year if they start utilizing him more. Ricky is still a wait and see...

Secondary - many things could happen... Schulters will be a lock. Daniels could be the nickel or dime corner with Poole returning or even convert to FS? Madison will have to have a heck of a second half to remain a Dolphin.

DL - Manny Wright will hopefully continue to progress into a starter, he is GINORMOUS!! Traylor will stay if healthy, Carter too. Taylor of course is a lock. Vickerson will get another shot...

OL - New C or G or T depending on what is available. I'm not as convinced as you guys that this line still doesn't need an overhaul...

As far as WR goes....we have Chambers and Welker...Booker disappears too often. Definetly need some upgrade there. Better Oline...2nd TE...DBs....QB-Brady Quinn, Brodie Croyle, Charlie Whitehurst?

We need to trade Booker at the end of the year and cut our losses, he disapears for long stretches of time and just doesnt scare anyone deep. We should replace him with someone with absolutely blazing speed. If we want a vertical game we need to get players in here who can take it vertical. Welker is a lock at the #3, that guy is going to be a Dolphin for a while. I think the OL will be addressed via draft and FA, Hutchinson and Bentley are both available this off season and would be heads and tails above anyone currently on the roster. As for the QB, as long as our QB's name isnt Jay, AJ, Gus, or Sage I'll defer to the coaches.

The defense isnt as bad as some would like to think, yes they are struggling but they are fighting injuries and an offense that gives them enough of a break to get a drink and then they are right back out there. We need a replacement for Seau, and depth the other two spots are locked up by Zach and Crowder. CB we need depth badly, we need to push Howard to the dime if he is on the roster at all. The return of Will Poole bodes well for us, Madison isnt great but he is still better than alot of teams have. With Madison, Poole, and Daniels we need to add one more guy so we can cut our ties to Howard IMO. Then add one more corner and a S, Chris Hope is a FA this year and I wouldnt mind seeing him brought in.

Remember also at CB we have the kid Mitchell, who is said to have starters skill and he will have had plenty of time to rehab(over 12 months). So potentially Daniels, Poole, Mitchell, and Bell. Not a bad start for a youth movement.
