I have a feeling the Dolphins were waiting to take a wait-and-see approach in seeing what the Ravens were going to do about Scott and Brown...

I think the Dolphins see the Ravens now signing Scott which means there would be no key ILB in FA and there may not be a viable option in the draft... that left no choice but to resign Crowder.. Im sure it was a 3 year, low money deal...

Now that turns the attention to Jason Brown, i think we jump all over this guy for the one big $$$ FA... after that, Im sure its all low $$ money guys we may have never heard of

I am wondering how we are going to be able to sign Brown honestly. We gave a big contract to Carey, Crowder likely got a decent deal and they are trying to lock up Bell. They want to sign probably a free bargain free agents and need to be able to sign their draft picks. Do we really have enough cap room?

We were like 35M under before signing Carey I do believe... We should still be around 28m free.

I am shocked.I hope we did not overpay. After the carey signing we we're only 19 under. If they sign bell you can forget about brown.

Not true pump dogs. Everything is being estimated but I heard before Carey we were 35$ million under. John Clayton's reports are always a little low. Carey and Bell put us at like 28$ million now. We have tons of room and locking up Bell is a priority but will cost no more than 3$ million per season.

I expect us to make a big strike early with Jason Brown and possibly Houshmandzadeh

Nope your wrong.Go too the sun-sentinal free agent bargains. Its says we have 19 mil in cap space.

I think you'll see Brown here as our big FA signing, then possibly Coles and then a bunch of bargins.

i read somewhere the cap is going to be a little higher than proposed. it'll be $127 million that gave us a little more room than we probably thought we would have.

Somebody just pointed out on another thread that the nfl raised the cap up 4 mil today. That is probally why they resigned crowder.

I'm not so sure that we'll give Brown the money he wants. If he is looking either to be paid as a guard, or the highest center in the NFL I don't know if we'll be willing to do that. I would say that there is a very good chance that Coles will be a Dolphin as soon as free agency opens, and I still think we'll resign Bell. So I don't know how much money would be left over to spend on Brown. I think the front office may be realizing that this is a very strong draft for centers, and we'd save a hell of a lot of money by drafting one instead of signing Brown.

We are still building why over pay for free agent build and stock pile through the draft. We wayy overachieved last year wich was awesome been a long time since we exceeded expectations, Most free agents in our past have not really worked out that well

By signing a young guy like Brown... that would ALMOST solidify us at the trenches... we would have a young, beefed up Dline with Merling and Langford with only the need for a young NT.. and we would have a very young and potentially really good Oline with Carey, Long and Brown as the major talents.. I like the idea.. I dont think one needs to spend of money in the secondary and WR positions.. we just need another pass rushing OLB (we mav have gotten that with Wake) and a solid NT and we will have a really nice team for years to come
