Thanks for signing cheap Jake now have fun in St.Louis. Draft Chirs Long and well have 3 2nd rounders. Then trade Jason and we could have 4 second rounders.:woot:

Uh, who said we got Long for cheap?

How would we have 3 2nds?

if he signs a contract, a turn around and trade would be a disaster for our salary cap

We weren't going to pay for the #1 pick so we bid low and and gave alittle i bet but got a good deal. The Rams wanted him but wasn't going to trade do to what they have to pay for the #1 pick over all.

Trade with the Rams they get Long and we get the #2 pick and thier 2nd.

IF that were their plan, they could easily structure the contract to not impact their cap...like giving a roster bonus due the day after the draft as opposed to a signing bonus. In this scenario, it would be the Rams, not the Phins who would pay the bonus.

I think the real point is IF the Dolphins really wanted C. Long....they be talking to C. Long instead of J. Long...they aren't fools...they know what they are doing. It's obvious to most that the Dolphins don't believe that C. Long is their best option...and they must see him as having very little up side. Another obvious thought...you don't pay top money for a OLB...unless he's really special...and looking at C. Long....he's very average....he doesn't have outstanding speed....he didn't play against top teams...he only has one real good season...these things don't add up to a special player.

No it wouldn't, 1st round picks don't get signing bonuses anymore. They've moved on to roster bonuses and option bonuses and other things in order to circumvent the rookie pool.
