it will be an exciting new season...
First let me say, these are comparing stats from 2004 and 2005 Pre-Season, and only offer a small window to view this team from. Whether these stats are a sign of improvement from a players or coaching “standpoint,†can be debated, but I like to think that it is a by-product of both.
Offensively last year we scored a total of 4 TDs; while racking up an average of 244 yards per game (172 yds passing), and allowed 12 sacks in 4 games…
This year we scored a total of 6 TDs; while racking up an average of 312 yards per game (246 yds passing), and allowed 13 sacks in 5 games…
With all the passes dropped, under thrown and or over thrown, we still improved a total of 28% from last year in total yards per game, and 43% in passing yards per game. We also improved in rushing for FD (1st Downs) by 45% (from 9 to 16)…
Defensively last year we allowed an average of 288 yds per game; 16 FD per game and a 38% 3rd Down Conversion Rate; giving up a total of 4 TDs in 4 games…
This year we allowed an average of 333 yds per game; 16 FD per game, and a 32% 3rd Down Conversion Rate; giving up a total of 6 TDs in 5 games…
Right now in my opinion the Defense seems to be struggling more than the Offense is with their new system, seems to be more complicated with the additional 3-4 scheme. They will need more repetition than the Offense to get better, by not thinking and reacting…
Well overall, there has been improvement in the Offense from last year; the points will hopefully come with repetition, coaching and game-planning. The defense will surely follow, but I assume this Defense will start standing tall by the middle of the season…
It will be an exciting new season of Miami Dolphin's football...
