With Miami likely to go to a power running game/play action passing game, I thought I'd alert you all to some footage of Beck when he played in a similar offense in 2004:

IF you want a quick overview, look just at the "a small recap", but some of you football mad posters who are starving for football might enjoy the other videos, too. They are in considerably better quality than youtube. There are a lot of long bombs in both the SDSU and Boise St games, but really, that was the offense that whole year. If you watch the end of the Boise highlight tape, you'll see what may have been the longest throw of the season thrown for a TD against USC.

You'll notice Beck was rarely in the shotgun, and he highlighted the arm that led SI to say he had the "prettiest deep ball in the nation" that year.

If anyone has footage of McCown or Henne doing the same thing, this might be a good thread for it.

he definitely hits all his receivers in stride which is nice, especially when we got a speed guy like ginn who can break it wide open.

great point!

I've been saying that about Ginn for some time.

About the video's Beck looks very, very good. Agian I noticed great line play which helped him make most of those throws.

If our o-line gives Beck or Henne solid play either one will be great. They can rest on the run and make the easy play action throws. It should be very promissing provided our o-line is as improved as I believe it is.

While some of the throws were good, some of them weren't THAT great. Plus how can you judge Beck that much off of footage from his sophomore season.

somebody always has to put Beck down or downplay something good from him...I hope he plays great this season just for all the so call fans that hate him.

Ozzy rules!!

You guys gotta be kidding cn you say somthing positive, i am guessing ur a hennemn wgo believes everything Beck does is wrobg,

Another John Beck hater who will find anything negative to say.

Is it just me or is it odd how his back leg when he's throwing scissors up when he releases? Not that I care as long as the ball gets there, it just seems like it would be hard to drive power off the back leg when he does this.

This is how. He looked that good his sophmore season. He got a lot better by his senior season. Unless you want to argue that he got worse, your comment is pretty dumb.

Hate if you want, but it's shallow.

He throws a soft deep ball with a nice arc that let the receiver spot the ball adjust with plenty of time and run under the ball. A good complement to speed guys that can break away and run free in the secondary. Should bode well with Ginn and Bess.

Also, he looks so much more relaxed and confident than last year. Stage fright maybe???

Does anyone have video of the other two?

curious what his delivery will look like this season, and really, really hope he takes huge steps in improvement this year.

The biggest difference that Beck had then to what he had last year was TIME. Well that & receivers in college who could catch.
