we could take a page from the vikings....although their's was a timed out (more than 15 min) misscue....this method could be employed by the Tuna if we can't trade out of the first pick. It could happen more than once and we end up with the 3rd, 2nd or 4th pick....save on salary-bonus and a large cap hit the first pick would command. Just a thought to be kicked around and don't be surprized if Bill and Jeff don't discuss it at some point:ponder:
 
Won't matter, the Agent will still go for money of the 1st overall pick.
 
I already mentioned that we should consider doing that in another theard. I really could benefit us and I don't want to rule it out.

And the answer is the same, no way the players agent or the NFLPA lets us get away with paying anything other than #1 overall pick $ to our selection! We have the #1 pick, regardless of why we didn't pick 1st!! They won't let you "just dodge the high payout"! The only ways we could avoid paying for the #1 overall is to either trade out of it, or just not pick in the 1st round. Sorry guys, they won't let you cheat the system, just not gonna happen!
 
Just thinking dollar for dollar, Jake Long could be a Richmond Webb type pick that plays here for ten years. McFadden might play six years, and lead the NFL in rushing one of those years. Gholson might play nine years and go to a few Pro Bowls. Brohm could be a great quarterback for us for fifteen years. Mike Jenkins could be another Ty Law for nine or ten years. Dorsey? I don’t know about that guy as a Dolphin… Who gives you the most for your money?
 
You know don't be surprised if Parcells takes Gholston at 1.

Gholston will improve his stock if he has a great Combine. Plus Gholston has great character and work ethic.

Only reason he made the jump to the NFL is he has to take care of his family. Which is always good to hear.

I highly doubt we draft gholston, i doubt he goes in the top 5 to be honest
 
Not a bad idea but then if the scenario that Stiches proposed happens then we're in a world of trouble. It'll get in to, "I want #1 money" and us responding with, "you weren't the #1 pick.

No self-respecting agent is going to take less than #1 money in that situation.f it worked like that why do you think teams don't do it?
