Miami Dolphins: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State

This is the first big change of my post-Combine 2016 NFL Mock Draft. I've had Ezekiel Elliott slotted to the Texans for quite some time, and I can guarantee 100 percent that he'll be the pick if he gets there, but it's sounding like Elliott will be chosen much higher than that - probably in the top 10.

Elliott, who had a terrific Combine, makes a ton of sense for the Dolphins, who seem set to lose Lamar Miller to free agency. Running back is a big need now, and the argument can be made that Elliott is the best player available.

Pick change; previously Vernon Hargreaves, CB

Got to say, I didn't see that coming with so many needs on defense but it makes sense as well. It is an interesting mock though that has us going RB, CB, DE, G with our first four picks. If Miller is gone that would address 4 needs positions right off the bat.

It's not a bad selection. He is much like Pittsburgh's RB Bell. The new NFL RB will be a mismatch coming out of the backfield catching passes and he does it very well.

Would not be at top of my list at 8, like the player, but this team is swiss cheese at more valuable areas of need IMO.

:bobdole:

I guess this is the new bob dole emoticon...anyways it applies

can he play corner?

You know why the previous selection was changed? Attention gets directed back at the old article. Nothing to see here but click bait.

I'm of the opinion that the starting RB for the Fins is already on the roster, one way or another.

regardless of the miller situation don't look at a rb til day 3...paul perkins ran one 40 then didn't do anything else at the combine you may be able to steal that in round 4 if not I can pair ajayi with a kelvin taylor of florida later in day 3 and feel fine about it...I would try to pluck taylor late on day 3 even if miller is back...he'd be an upgrade to the 3rd rb

From an article I just read predicting where top free agents will end up. Just one dudes opinion tho
LAMAR MILLER Running back

Age: 24

Miller's usage by the Dolphins was wildly inconsistent, and will surely lead to him looking for a more stable role elsewhere. Questions remain about whether Miller can be a true featured runner, but he shouldn't have a hard time finding teams who can offer him the larger portion of a timeshare.

The Texans are desperate to add playmakers on offense. After Arian Foster tore his Achilles, the combination of Alfred Blue and Chris Polk averaged a pathetic 3.7 yards per carry. Miller is an excellent fit for the Texans' scheme, and would make sense to sign regardless of whether Houston plans to bring Foster back next season.

Prediction: Texans on a four-year, $18-million deal ($10 million guaranteed)

I thought he explained in there why he changed to Elliott. The link just takes you to the full mock. It doesn't expand on any team past what is on that page.

Hard to argue with Elliott based on talent and if Miami loses Miller. He is one heck of a back.

Don't see Miami going that way, but we'll have to see what free agency brings. If the Dolphins are able to fill some huge needs on defense through free agency, Elliott becomes more likely.
