I know all of you here are already clamoring for the Gruden era to begin.
I think I'm fine with him as a coach

BUT

under NO circumstance do I want this guy drafting players. This is the same Gruden who spent his first rounder on a place kicker
and his explanation was that the year before they lost so many games by 3 points or less.

be very careful what you wish for

I want Oakland Gruden, not Tampa Gruden.

Actually, I want Jay Gruden. But if they're a package deal, I'll take them and hope for the best.

Unless there's a miracle tomorrow night, get ready for it. Steve Ross will be going hot and heavy after these guys.

Can I still get Mike McCoy? Oops sorry.

I dont want anything to do with Gruden.

From where I sit, him coming back seems like nothing more than a ploy to get his brother a HC gig. It could be similar to the JJ/Wrongstedt thing.

Think about it..... his brother cant seem to get over the hump and get a HC job. His offense in Cinci is finally starting to get over the hump, but it may not be enough to land him a HC job next season even if he is a candidate. You know he will bring his brother in as OC wherever he goes. Gruden could sign on in agreement to have a team let him coach for a year or two so long as his brother gets the job after he steps aside.

I'm warming up to David Shaw from Stanford. He isn't your regular college coach. He has NFL pedigree with 9 years as an assistant with Oakland, Philly and Baltimore. He was coached by Denny Green and Bill Walsh. He coached under Harbaugh at University of San Diego and Stanford. He knows how to coach NFL talent QBs like Luck. And he seems like a guy football players will play hard for. He isn't some crazy dictator like Saban, but a calm, collected leader who knows how to related to players.

For me, I will take Shaw or one of the Grudens. I am ready to move on from Philbin (unless he manages the improbable and gets this team to the playoffs)

Jay Gruden turned down head coaching interviews the year we hired Philbin. Trust me, he's wanted.

He was a very successful head coach in the Arena League, btw. He is a hot commodity.

That said, at this point I'm convinced that whoever we hire, he'll stink.

Whoever it might be, can we all agree that it would be bad idea for the QB coach to be the son-in-law of the OC?

I like Skape's idea.

Id would be all for hiring Shaw as HC.

I want nothing to do with any college coach. You think having an OC turned coach is bad, that's even worse.
I don't care what his references are Saban had references out the kazoo and that was a fail.

Listen to Shaw speak, he sounds like a young Bill Walsh (who was also a college coach out of Stanford before his NFL gig). If you are going to take a college coach, you take a Stanford coach because you have to be smart as **** to coach at that school. Stanford gave the NFL the likes of Walsh and Harbaugh.
