Woah!!!!! Wait a second people.....

What I find weird is that based on any coach we could hire, to me Gruden brings with him the biggest possibility of us not selecting a first round qb this upcoming draft. He is known as a guy who does not like dealing with young qbs and has always tended towards vetrens. Something I do not want to see happen yet again.

I think it would be a deadly mistake to give Gruden or anyone else full control. With that said, I don't think anyone is crazy enough to pass on Luck if we are in position to draft him. I could see them passing on Landry Jones or Matt Barkley though. This is where Ross must come in and demand a star QB to be drafted. If the reports are true, I have hope that this is what will happen.

Well Gruden also could have won a superbowl with his team if the Tuck rule wasn't created on the spot.

Also I'll take anything at this point and it doesn't matter what we think or what we want, what happens happens.

That is true lol

Hey, youre the one that came in here saying take away his biggest accomplishment and he isnt as impressive. Thats faulty logic.

No.....what I asked was take away a debatable super bowl, what has anyone seen this guy do that you are doing cart wheels. I want some answers as to what kind of offense this guy runs, how he fits with the players wemhave here already, how is he going to groom a young QB when he couldn't do itmbefore etc etc
That's what I wanted to see as feedback, no one single poster has done that.

Like I said, I'm indifferent right now. I just hope we do a thorough search before we settle on this guy.

Again, more attacks from the less fortunate
Logic???? Overruled by Davis????

Like I thought , no one here is giving me anything to hang my hat on, just verbal attacks and dismissal because just as I thought, no educational response to the original question

I know, he's got the meanest scowl on the sidelines so we want him as our coach. He was the one who wanted the Sebatian pick, no one here is that dumb to think otherwise.

Do you know what the difference between a coach and GM is? Maybe we need to have some football 101, so you know what you should grade each component of the staff on...

And if you do not understand that even though teams have gms it does not mean they are the ones pulling the strings. There have been plenty of coaches who have had control while having a gm who was basically a yes man. I guess using your logic Bill Parcells was not the one pulling the strings in the first couple years here, or Saban wasn'y deciding who to draft when he was our coach.

Each situation is different. Parcells was the head of football operations while he was here, therefore had final say over everything, though publicly they said otherwise. Gruden never had final say over personnel anywhere.

Gruden would be fun to watch but he may disappoint those wanting Luck.
He won a superbowl without a good QB and then never drafted one high in Tampa thinking he could win without anybody special back there.
His ego may get in the way.
Who knows ? If we get Cowher he may draft a linebacker.
Fisher may draft a QB high and then threaten to quit if they don't get along.

WOW. GREAT POST. and DEAD ON!!!!! even rodney harrison SAID SO. did u guys see him on the NFL network special a couple weeks ago??? that ****ing rule was created ON THE SPOT. they had to go find ANYTHING they could in the rulebook to justify that. i find it hilarious that the jets, what last week? SAME PLAY... SAME DAMN PLAY!!! and they ruled it a fumble. bradys was a fumble no matter which way u look at it. clear to EVERYBODY but one ref, and a dynasty was born. even rodney harrison SAID what ive always thought. the patriots might not be today what they are without that call

I see the thread where everyone is already holding Grudens jock and handing him over the keys, but I want to know exactly why all of you are in love with this guy. Besides winning a super bowl with Dungys team, what moment while watching him coach did you all of a sudden say I have to have him as my head coach. I mean really how bout some instances or plays where you were blown away with him as a coach. Post them here cause I would love to be educated.

Now, I'm not saying I'm against him coming here, but what makes him this intellectual innovative mind that he should be coaching the Fins????? I'm indifferent. I mean come come on this guy uses his #1 overall pick and selects a FG kicker in the first round. And his explanation was because the raiders lost so many games by less than three points the previous year????? Seriously????? And we're complaining about Dabol right now?????

The team Gruden beat in that super bowl....HE BUILT!! He gets credit for that!

hell anyone is better than Softprano well almost anyone

So if you go by all of your logic, he can't get credit for the "almost" Superbowl win because al Davis was in charge, and same goes for TB, then you have to give Grazer all the credit.
I don't know, I think some of you guys are over excited for this to happen because of the "chuckie" stigma he's created but he's had nothing as a track record for developing Young QBs, that makes me nervous if we even have a shot at Luck

I like the fact that he won a superbowl without a great quarterback. You give him a great quarterback and he dominates! I dont care what anyone says. Jon Gruden was handed an aging bucs team and made them elite.. He got fired for a 9-7 season when all the players, including derrick brooks, got old fast.

Any coach coming into this mess in Miami will have to realize that securing a top notch QB for the future is priority #1 and I think that would include Gruden, despite his "reluctance" with dealing with rookie QB's. My big question with him is longevity. He seems like an intense guy and he seems to be the type who doesn't like to stay in 1 place too long. I would like a little stability with this team seeing as we have not had any in the past 10 years.

As far as I'm concerned his draft in the first round for a place kicker is no better than anything Wanny did. I hope to god we have a real GM in place before we select a coach. He burned TB to the ground

Call me dumb then it was all Al Davis. Unless Gruden over ruled Al from his daddy's sack on the Ray Guy pick.

The whole "Gruden won with Dungy's players" is way, way overplayed. First of all, Dungy wasn't the GM of the team, Rich McKay was. So in reality, Gruden won with the team McKay built while Dungy couldn't. The biggest knock on Dungy at the time was that his offense was way too conservative(sound familiar?) and he got fired after losing to the Eagles in back to back seasons. Next thing you know, Gruden comes in and wins the NFC Championship against the Eagles and later the SB. If anything, Tony Dungy is the overrated coach who you could argue only won his SB because of Peyton Manning.

the voice of reason? u should be banned for making sense
