Working on a trade?!

I'm willing to bet every GM has been working the phones for 10 days....

One thing that we haven't had in awhile at certain positions is good depth. I think other teams know that we're going to have to cut some good talent which is a good predicament to be in. If we can swindle a trade out of it I'm all for it

Sorry I can't remember the source.. but this story was written in a S. Florida paper a few days ago... and as a previous poster stated.. every GM is working the phones. And likely do until the trading deadline.

He is just looking for the next GM to take to the cleaners. I'm sure we are going to try and trade everyone who is not going to make this roster.

Brandon London anyone?

Matt Roth, being held out to prevent any injuries and that is why it's hush hush. Just my guess...

Of course he has been on the phone. Didn't you see the Alleman and Ndukwe trades? I'm sure there's even more going on with other backups in the team.

Is there a trade in our immediate future? This was posted on cnnsi.com's truth and rumors. Says Ireland has been working the phones for the last 10 days...hmmmmm

Armando wrote a blog report on the Miami Herald about this and the CNNSI Truth and Rumor section is citing that blog as their source. Basically, Armando just said that the Dolphins, like every team, are working the phones trying to trade guys who they know won't make the team. This was evident last year when they traded Travis Daniels and Josh McCown and earlier this week when they traded Ndukwe and Alleman.

Armando also went on to say that while the team is try to trade players away, they are also not opposed to being on the receiving end of a trade. I wouldn't say anything is definitely going to happen, but the possibility is out there. Basically, Armando stated what every team and fan just assumed to be true. Nothing real Earth shattering.

He's being aggressive. Obviously it has already paid off by being able to trade Alleman and Ndukwe.

My guess is he's still trying to trade Brandon London, Matt Roth and Rodrique Wright.

As for acquisitions...I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins are in the market for someone that looks like a stellar KR/PR combo guy. Roscoe Parrish is deadly on punt returns, and he was deadly as a rookie on kick returns. The Dolphins could make a run at him.

This Stefon Logan kid up in Pittsburgh is making serious waves but the Steelers have the luxury of already having both Joe Burnett and Mike Wallace, who can handle return duties for them in addition to being more than solid prospects at their natural position. Logan is just purely a return man.

Some folks have brought up Josh Cribbs and I know he's asked for a trade but the Browns will never do it. They love him not only as a return guy but also on offense.

The Dolphins might get a good look tonight at a guy they could try and trade for in Clifton Smith. He's in a bad numbers game because Cadillac looks healthy, and that gives them three high quality tailbacks in Earnest Graham, Derrick Ward and Cadillac Williams. Not to mention, they have two good fullbacks in BJ Askew and Jameel Cook, both of which were on the roster a lot a year ago. Clifton Smith averaged 27.6 yards on 36 kick returns a year ago, with a 97 yard TD...and 14.1 yards on 23 punt returns, with one 70 yard TD. It wasn't just the blocking, as Dexter Jackson averaged only 23.4 yards on 14 kickoff returns, and 4.9 yards on 20 punt returns.

Another one to keep an eye on would be Mark Jones, who was a good KR/PR in Carolina a year ago, is now fighting a numbers game at WR in Tennessee. He has averaged 24.9 yards on 50 kick returns, and 11.5 yards on 51 punt returns, over the last two seasons with Tampa Bay and Carolina. He has no TDs in his career though, and his KR long is 59 yards, his PR long is 55 yards. One might argue that the Dolphins can reproduce those results with someone already on roster.

Clifton Smith, btw, averaged 17.1 yards per punt return in college and had 5 punt return TDs. He went to the Pro Bowl as a return guy in 2008. He fumbled three times in his first three games with the Bucs, but seemed to settle in after that.

Very. But remember, the reason Chris Williams is not on this football team is not because of the ball hitting his facemask or his not catching the ball cleanly, it's because he broke his hand.

i'm holding out hope for him. give him a year. maybe he can help himself. for now though, we have a hole at KR.

i'd rather trade for an experienced, backup offensive guard & tackle than anything else. a safety solid in pass coverage would be nice too.
