This offseason brings about exciting speculation and anticipation of acquisitions that will vault the Dolphins back to being the Beast of the East and playoff/SuperBowl bound.

However, as free agency signing, posible trades, and the draft loom in the immediate future, I was reminded it is also a time for colossal blunders. :shakeno:

Among those that come to mind are #1 draft choices Jamar Fletcher (2001), John Avery (1998), Eric Kumerow (1988),Jackie Shipp (1984).

Or trades such as Jake Scott and a #4 to Washington for Bryant Salter (1976), WR Tony Martin to SanDiego for a #4 (1994), a #2 (35th overall) for AJ Feely in 2005. Some may consider the Ricky Williams trade: (1st(25th overall) and a 4th picks in 2002 and 1st (18th overall) in 2003 as one of the worst (it would have won last year).

Free agency? Losing Marco Coleman, Bryan Cox, Irving Fryan, and Troy Vincent in 1996, signing Jay Fiedler in 2000.

So get out your media guides and voice your opinion. What do you think is the worst player personnel move in Dolphin history? My nomination goes to the acquisition of AJ Feely for a #2. Dolphins got hosed on that one as Feely did nothing for the Dolphins.

wasn't eddie moore a second rounder? he has to be considered, but jamal fletcher instead od drew brees gets my vote.....

Worst personnel move was Wannstadt, without question. Worst player personnel move, AJ, Fletcher, Eddie Moore, a 1 and 4 for Carey, a 3 for Gordon, I mean take your pick!

I, too, thought about Eddie. And he was a #2. He certainly deserves consideration.

Any of our running backs:

Sammie Smith, Craver, Kirby, the denver guy who was shot in the leg, what was his name?

He did one thing for us, lets not forget the NE game.

Different coach with a lot better idea on what he needs to do.

I share your optimism. However, I must admit I thought Jimmy Johnson was a draft wizzard (and he did find some gems). But he gave us John Avery. I guess what that shows is that when it comes to player personnel moves there are no guarantees. :(

I believe his name was Bobby Humphrey, and we traded Sammie Smith for him.

But my personal favorite one to hate, would have to be signing the great "Ray Mucas", boy, that one turned out good didn't it.

Fins winning that game was quite possibly the brightest moment of that season (other than the final whistle).

Eddie moore, Cecil Collins, and the most recent Reggie Howard{not so much the player, but the contact given to the player}

How about a different view of this and one that has been mentioned recently. The trade that was suppose to happen, matter of fact it was a done deal until our previous GM wanted 2 more hours to think about it. The Matt Hasselback trade that was but never was. We could of had him for our #1 pick (#26).

"Spielman refused to comment on the subject Wednesday. Wolf said, "For the life of me, I don't remember the reason" for the delay."

"And with the 26th pick of the 2001 draft the Miami Dolphins select Jamar Fletcher, Wisconsin."

Miami feels he will fit perfectly as the team's third cornerback, playing alongside Pro Bowl cornerback Sam Madison and rising star Patrick Surtain. Head coach Dave Wannstedt expects the third corner will be on the field for more than 50 percent of the defensive plays.

"When you draft guys in the first round, you want to make sure you get players who can play every down," Wannstedt said. "He'll have to compete, but with his ability level and intelligence, he's got all the intangibles to come in and handle things in a hurry."

Cecil Collins is up there just for the sheer train wreck fashion in which he went out.

Surprised nobody remembered Billy Milner (on second thought, maybe that isn't so surprising). I believe he was Shula's last 1st round pick. Andrew Greene was a 2nd rounder (same year?) that as soon as they got a look at him in training camp, our coaching staffed was embarrassed to have drafted him.

Jamar Fletcher, Eddie Moore, Taylor Whitley, and Wade Smith. All were reaches, and none panned out.

How about letting Jay Feidler be our starter for 4 years, and never draft a QB in that time. I really can't think of too many good ideas from the Wannstadt era, getting Ricky was good but may have been too much. Fletcher, dear god!!! Eddie Moore, grrrrrr. I think of how many wasted draft picks we've had over the last five years, not including 2005. What a bunch of crap!!! Everything was a quick fix maneuver instead of a planning for the future. I'm glad we have a coach who looks to the future as much as looking at today.
