I ask this question of Dolphins fans every so often and I'm usually greeted with all of the tradition talk and how it would be wrong to have Miami in a division with Tampa Bay, Jacksonville and someone else like Atlanta or Carolina. But personally, I'd prefer a southern flavor to the schedule over playing eastern teams. And as far as tradition goes, you kind of make tradition as you go along, ya know? :)

I figure at the least, even if it's not realistic to put Miami in with Tampa and Jax since they're in different conferences, we could have had Miami in the AFC South with Jax, Tennessee and Houston, even though I'd like to have two games a year with Tampa Bay as well.

I just think it's amazing how many people prefer it just the way it is, when it would be possible to get some good southern rivalries going if the change was made. Oh well, too many people out there feel that there's just too much to lose by not playing Buffalo, New England and New York each year, I guess.

AFC East
---------
New England
New York
Indianapolis
Buffalo

AFC South
-----------
Miami
Jacksonville
Tampa Bay
Carolina

NFC South
----------
Atlanta
New Orleans
Houston
Tennessee

I mean, what's wrong with that? :D

i always wondered why Miami (a southeast team) got into a division with the Jets (northeast team) the Pats (a northeast team) and the Bills (a northeast team),

That's why they hate us so much. We should leave it alone just for that reason alone.

That's because before there were 4 Division, it was only 3 Divisions - The AFC East, Central, and West. Therefore we fell on the AFC East Division. When they split it to four divisions due to the expansion league, there was too much tradition to take out the Phins, so they placed the Colts where they are now.

When divisions changed everyone wanted to keep the old rivals, all were AFL east prior to merger

i say the phins should be with the bucs, jags and titans...move tb from nfc to afc..would make things more intersting and as it stands now , how cna you call the bucs-dolphins a rivarly when they only play once every four years...playing the jets, bills na dpats have made yawn and grown tired of this...try something new...but the league wont do that, cause it would make to much sense

I for one, was happy when the NFL booted Indy from the East, Miami has too strong of a rivalry with the Pats, Jets and Bills.

If you really think it's boring to play the Jets, Pats, and Bills, then you need your head examined.

Because Wayne asked the NFL to keep us in the Division -- more people see the Fins that way, and it generates more revenue for the team. Jerry Jones did the same for Dallas, to stay in the NFC East.

It's all about the $$$$$$$$

Leave it the way it is.I love to hate the Jills,Pats, and Jets.:billsbite :nesucks: :jetssuck:

I like our division but it is very against us....New England, New York, Buffalo, all places that can snow and be very cold. But definitely don't change it around.

When I originally heard that the divisions were being realigned, I was actually looking forward to new rivalries with the likes of the Jaguars and Titans (remember, this was while both franchises were still strong and we had played some classic regular-season games against both). But Im still happy with our current alignment. I dont know what it would feel like to NOT hate the Bills, Jets and Pats whilst putting that same teeming passionate hatred towards the Titans and Texans? It just doesnt sound right.
