Would the outcome of the Jets game been different had Ricky been playing? I just posted in another thread that we will get nowhere until our line is improved, but I believe that Ricky is one of those rare backs that can make a mediocre O-line look pretty good. Ronnie may be eventually, but he isn't to that point yet. In my opinion this game would have been won if Ricky had been playing.

No doubt.

I think starting RB S. Morris would have changed the outcome of that game. Maybe that's just me though....

No blame on anyone here. We've got to get Brown broken in sooner or later....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Yet would be the key word there that most people are over looking now. Ronnie may never be the RW or LT type back but he will be ok with time. That said, RW is the type of back that can change an O-line. Another good question could be will Ronnie ever get to that point where he can make an O-line look good by himself. So far I havn't gotten that feeling, but hopefully with time he will turn into that elite type of back.

I thought that same thing. Morris didn't run with the hesitation that Ronnie did which would have made up for some, not all, of our poor run blocking. Hit the hole and go which Ronnie didn't do. You are exactly right though, no matter what I think we need to throw Ronnie in there and let him find it on his own.

Anyone that answered yes is just not making any sense. He has not played a single reg-season game yet. How does anyone know how he is going to react to a real game?

I think he will be fine in time when he returns, but he is going to have to re-adjust to the NFL ppl.

In the first half it seemed like everytime Ronnie touched the ball he had two or three jet defenders already in his face...Ricky couldnt do anything with that either.

Ricky is a good enough RB to change any game he plays in. The difference in 2003 and 2004 should prove that. I don't know if we would have won, but he certainly improves the team when he is actually there.

I'm glad you posted this - don't know if we would have won - but Ricky is a beast - guys in the league loathe tackling him - the defense is thinking about this guy even before the the game kicks off. It's like early Tyson, half the fights he won were due to fear from the opponent (once he got his a$$ kicked, the fear was gone though and everyone kicked hiss a$$).

I think with Ricky playing Gus may have had more success passing due to the Jets focusing on Ricky....however, our recievers have been dropping the ball all over the place so this point may be moot. Whose the god damn recievers coach anyway? Catch the rock guys!!!

The reason I answered yes was because I feel like the vision that Ricky has is up there with the best in the league. It was also still evident from preseason games that he still has the initial burst that Ronnie hasn't developed yet. That vision and burst would have made up for some poor blocking gaining us some more rushing yards which would have taken the pressure off the passing game which both combined would have kept the D off the field longer. That whole domino effect is why I answered yes.

I can see potentially Wicky may have made a difference, but that is simply not a known entity right now. He may not be the same player he once was. Running well during the pre-season is not the same as running well during the reg-season.

Very tough hypothetical question.....one thing is for sure...Ricky strikes fear in defenses all over the NFL, he's our running game and can make things happen even without an O-line....they would not be able to concentrate on stopping both Ricky and our aggresive play passing....

I believe so, we lost by 10 pts without a running game....If ricky was there, we would've won that game

Of course this is hypothetical and just my opinion but  I think having Ricky back would have changed the outcome of the game. I think he would have broken at least 1 or 2 big (not even talking 50+ even a 20 yard run) runs. Then I feel we could have slowly broken Ronnie Brown in and not have him carry the whole load quite yet and use Sammy Morris efficiently and of course there's a lot of things we could have done differently that may have changed the outcome of the game and I think having Ricky back would have been one of them.
