im just wondering what you guys thought after reading an article where jason smith of the rams took a huge pay cut if jake should take a pay cut. im not saying smith is anywhere on the same level as jake, but i think jake should take a pay cut to help the team. his cap hit is killing the salary cap. im not saying he should take a huge cut like smith did, but something that helps the team out. but i have a feeling jake wants to test the market.
thoughts?

He's being paid a lot, but he'll want to be paid like the top tackle in the NFL. So, no.

No, he deserves the money he's going to get, just like Cam Wake. Maybe if he were older and was slowing down, but he's a top tackle in the game.

Jason Smith took a paycut to remain on the team, not to help them out. He's been a huge bust since entering the league

Wouldn't ask him to take an outright paycut in the last year of his deal, you might alienate your left tackle the year before he's a free agent. I think(hope) Ireland's gonna actually try and give him a multi-year extension, like he's trying to do with Wake & Hartline. Long will probably get around what Joe Thomas got, 7 year 84 million.

With Jake Long and his agent wanting to be the highest paid LT in the game; I'd consider any and all trade offers for him.

He should, no offensive lineman should make more than 5 million per year, this would be my offer, 5 years 25 million 15 guarantee, take it or GTFO.

Needs to be said; in a power run offense Jake Long has higher value, in a ZBS not so much.

He's already getting a ton of money and he's been getting hurt. I love JL and he's a very good player but you have to be careful how much you give him. We need a whole team, not just a LT which is a position that's not as important as it used to be. Don't get me worng, we need a good LT and he's one of the best but are you going to pay him more than your QB?......That is, if we actually had a great QB.....LOL

Ozzy rules!!

Amazing to me after seeing what a aweful right tackle will do to your offense now people
want to get rid of Jake Long, one of the best Left tackles in the game. When the QB
is getting blind sided, don't blame Ireland then.
