We saw last year how many starting QBs got hurt & they didn't have any good replacements (Cards, Redskins, Texans) so we need a QUALITY back up plus he is good for the locker room. With us freeing up a lot of $ I think he needs to be a priority. ALSO re-sign Clay & I'll be thrilled!

For $2 mil or so I'm down, but not at $4 mil per year. He hasn't gotten much attention on the free agent market (has ANY team been mentioned as interested in him?), so honestly I imagine this move is likely.

He's not getting $4million per. I don't know why this is even a concern anymore for anyone.

Ahh, but that's what Jeffy Boy paid him last time. Like I said I think we get him at the $2 mil per range and he's enough of a pro I'd sign him for a couple years just to not have to think about back-up QB. What are most teams paying their backups anyway???

2 year, $4 million dollar deal sounds fair.

Exactly what I'd like to see.

I am very surprised nobody has even considered him. Would love to have him back.

That is because he is not very good. There was not much interest him when he was a free agent two ago, but of course Ireland way overpaid to keep him around anyway. So of course there is not going to be much interest in him two years later. Some fans on this board need to stop living in 2011. That was an anomaly.

Jeff backloaded the contract into the 2nd year. Remember Moore made $1million base salary in the first year, which was a blatantly discounted rate for his services.

Its suprising nobody has brought this up. So much going on right now the QB position has been forgotten. Its not like an important position eh? I think we all got complacent having Moore as backup.

I hear you but the contract still averaged $4 mil and the cap hit the first year was $2.5 mil. Of course at that time we still weren't 100% sure Tannehill was gonna be the guy....or survive as bad as the o-line play was. Anyway, Moore is to me exactly the guy we want backing up Tanne if we don't have a good developmental QB on the roster and we don't. He just isn't worth paying much money to.

That funny math though when focusing only on averages. He played 2013 for $1million base so that the Dolphins had extra money in free agency. Nobody complained. He got $4million in 2014 because of that sacrifice and because they were well to do in 2014 with their cap space. They could have restructured him down, but they chose not to.

I'd welcome him back at around $2.7M (still taking around a 50% haircut). He has been a good backup to Tannehill and he knows the system that Lazor is running. Tannehill has been healthy and durable since he arrived but one should not take it for granted. It may also be prudent to pick up a QB in the Draft as a low cost development prospect if any appeal.

it was mentioned very briefly... but from what I think with such little noise on Matt Moore right now, it could be a great resigning cheap for us to bring him back to a nice contract. not sure... that is one we might have to wait some time on though into FA.
