Would Ricky be suspended if his positive test wasn't leaked by Denver? I thought I heard somewhere that this happens all the time and we never hear about it cause its kept under wraps. If it was kept confidential do you think he would have still been playing, since the NFL wouldn't have had to make an example of him in the public eye? Can somebody give me some feedback on whether this is correct and what they think?

There's a good chance he wouldn't have, IMO. The NFL was put in a position where they had to make an example of someone. It's total BS. But that's the way it is.

I dont think it woud have made a difference at all, he broke the rules period.

What I find interesting is why the Dolphins would have pursued any kind of trade talks with Denver knowing that Ricky had a 4th positive drug test that was going to have to be dealt with first. Weren't they just inviting a leak? Were the people in charge aware of that positive test before contacting Denver? If so, I think it was pretty stupid to do any kind of trade talking. If not, then they need to make themselves more aware before moving in those kinds of directions.

I have a sneaking suspicion that if that information hadn't been leaked, Ricky would have been about 80% liklier to get off in the appeal. It's too bad it didn't happen the way it should have, quietly.

I'll probly get laughed at but I've seen it everywhere and can't figure it out, but what does IMO mean?

In My Opinion

I demand a mistrial. That's what would of happened if it was a regular court case and that's what should happen here. Information was leaked out that wasn't suppose to be and could have affected the counsils opinion causing them to make thier decision b4 even hearing it.

My understanding is Denver was investigating the possibility of a trade. Miami made no contact. During their investigation they were told about the failed 4th test by the league. Some idiot in the Denver organization then leaked it to a local reporter.

Where are the cries on this board for accountability? Denver broke the RULES.

Yes I do think it had an impact on the decision, it tainted the process. Ricky would have had this thrown out in a court of law because of a breach of his due process.

So did Denver. The whole process was a broken rule when they breached his confidentiality.

Well, can someone send me a picture so I can create a Free/Re-instate Ricky Williams T-shirt!!!

Truth be told, if he is guilty, he is guilty. It just should not have played out the way that it did. It leaves to much speculation. If he played for any other team we would be mocking him and them the team the fans everyone. I think it's unfortunate either way, we had possibly the greatest running back that never was. I am a Ricky backer and will be if and when he comes back next season.

So to show my support I will create and wear a RE-INSTATE RICKY WILLIAMS shirt. Altough I think a Free RICKY shirt would be cooler!!!

remember...something as trivial ( used correctly and NOT abused ) ephedrine can get you booted out for a year...and i bought some of that this morning...good thing my job tests for dope, and not speed.

The NFL's court is a lot different then in a real court.
The NFL is like the president, they always gotta make sure they have the support of the people. If they let ricky off it would make them look bad.

Actually it might be a blessing that it came out sooner rather than later. If it was found out later . Saban might not have been able to make different plans in draft. Now that we know Ricky was found guilty of the 4th test. Saban can move on and make plans without Ricky in them.

The reports I heard all day yesterday said that the leak had almost zero affect and that he would have been suspended either way. Also Cole reported that it was not believed the leak originated from the Broncos nor the NFL.
