Hello Dolphins, I'm new to your board and I was wondering what the opinion and/or interest other teams' fans have of JP Losman. I'm a Bills fan and I'm trying to gauge his value. I appreciate any input and I'd like to keep it friendly. I have some good insights on football myself and I do follow your team quite closely, mostly because I do live in SW Florida and also now that you have got Bill Parcells. I expect big things for the Dolphins and look forward to keeping our rivalry intense and intact. Thanks and good luck on your season.

I would like JP Losman on the team but I would be against trading anything other than a 6th rounder for him and more likely to wait on your team to cut him. I would rather sign Grossman as a free agent than trade away another draft pick.

Hey thanks that's the kind of input I'm looking for. I think that we got a big problem starting to brew with our QBs. None are experienced enough or proven. This could really be our achilles heel.

Only if he was cut, we've had enough of trading for other teams lousy QB's. JP has lots of up side but I'd rather let someone else discover it. If he doesn't want to backup Edwards why would he want to backup Beck ?

I think Edwards showed alot for a rookie last year. He showed that he was much more ready than Beck or Russel were to lead thier teams and they were both drafted ahead of him. He basically went out there and took Losman's job. At Qb you got the steal of the draft. Edwards was a great prospect coming into college but playing with a team as bad as Stanford hurt his stock quite a bit. Put him at BYU, USC, Notre dame or any other top team and he is a defintate first rounder.

If we acquire Losman I will burn my Miami Dolphin's fan card and slit my wrists.

I would think hypothetically that if the Dolphins were ever to have Losman this year that he would be the starter and allow yourselves time to see what you got with Beck. I'm just trying to get an accurate gauge on just what his value might be. In no way am I trying to "sell" anybody on him, I just want to see what other football fans think of him.

Losman throws the best deep ball in the league with the exception of Manning and Brady of course. Unfortunately for him that's all he does well lol. If someone got him to work on his other passes he could be dominant. I guess he is too lazy or something. The arm strength is there for sure though and his deep ball accuracy is amazing.

I think that you're pretty much on the money only it's not laziness, the guy does work very hard in the off season. I think it has more to do with him being an athletic type of QB and not being a cerebral kind. That appears to be the big difference between him and Trent Edwards.

We have already tried other teams leftover qb's:

Philly: Feeley
Vikes: Culpepper
KC: Green
Jets: Lucas
Chargers: Lemon
Jags: Fiedler
Broncos/Vikes: Frerotte

DO YOU SENSE A PATTERN? :shakeno:

If a guy makes bad decisions under pressure I don't believe you can coach that out of him. He's had ample opportunity to get better with the end result being losing his job to a rookie. How can we see what we have in Beck if Losman is the starter?

I wouldn't argue that. If Losman wasn't going to be the starter then how do you guys feel about Beck starting? Does anyone know what Parcells is going to do for a QB or the back up to one?

If any of you are interested I'll tell what I was thinking a few weeks ago but a lot has changed since then. I was thinking that Tuna was going to get or trade for Phil Simms' kid Chris off of Tampa. Not just because of the old ties but more so for two other reasons. First because he's a lefty with some experience and I thought that that could help compensate for the lack of a good LT. In addition to Simms I was then thinking that Tuna would back him up with another lefty as in Mark Brunnell because of his leadership, insurance policy, and because I know that Parcells likes to know what he's got in a player. Brunnell could be had for next to nothing also, Washington is done with him.

Now of course this has all changed and the reason is that I called in on Sirius radio and I got to talk to Gil Brandt about a week or so ago. Brandt stated that he happened to have talked to Phil Simms just about a week or two before and while Phil said that his son is healthy, or getting healthy, Brandt gave me the impression that Chris is still not all the way back yet. Oh well, it was just a thought. Now that I got on this whole QB thing with the Dolphins and figured in Brunnell, I have since started to wonder if maybe Parcells goes after Washington's other back up QB Todd Collins. He's got plenty of experience and this would allow you guys to see exactly what you have with Beck as a starter or a back up to Collins. Of course I'm guessing at all this but maybe one of you can fill me in as in what your QB situation might be. Thanks.

Through FA we could be after anybody, BP seems to like older vets which is why I wouldn't rule out T.Green back. I hope we give Beck the ball and let him either become our guy or then we draft a QB high next year.
