Fisrt of all, the situation:
Rams may or may not be for sale. In a time of question and instability they probably aren't going after high priced FA's, sale or no sale.
Rams are not bringing back Bulger and Boller is a FA and he stinks. Rams have no QB.
Rams have huge holes and weaknesses all over their team.
Apart from some miracle they aren't going to win another game.
Rookies aren't going to be enough to return this team to respectability.
They need several starting caliber experienced NFL players. Where can they get such players in the uncapped year when free agency is extremely limited???
Perhaps, from the Dolphins in a multi-player trade involving low cost prospects and a few quality players and draft picks in exchange for draft position changes.
Say the Dolphins end up with the 15 th pick, right in the middle of it. It's only 14 picks to the 1st but dayamm! those little increments are expensive.
Maybe something like this:
QB's Pat White,Tyler Thigpen, Andrew Gardner LT,Reggie Torbor and Charlie Anderson LB's ,TE Kory Sperry and DT's Phillip Merling and Kendall Langford.
Remember Ram's don't really have a QB. That rookie they played last week was beyond awful. Andrew Gardner has recieved some pretty high praise at times by the Dolphins brass. He may win the LT job over there. He obviously has no shot here. Both Torbor and Anderson were OLB's in a 4-3 prior to coming to the Dolphins. Either one would be a vast improvement over Paris Lenon. DE Leonard Little is 35 and a FA. Merling would start at DE as would Langford at DT. All the Rams TE's are FA's and they all stink.
You would think five veteran starters would be enough but they would probably want our 2011 1st as well so I would throw in that and our 2010 3rd but we change draft positions in both the 1st and 2nd round.
Ram's give up nothing but a few positions in the draft which may amount to nothing, and gain the universe on a platter. They win the freakin lottery!
Dolphins acquire the 1st pick in the draft and sign the future Hall of Famer, Ndamakong Suh, official "World Beater" in early April. And with the 1st pick in the 2nd round the Dolphins grab either Jermaine Gresham TE or CJ Spiller RB, because one of them is going to slide. Hopefully the TE who is in IMO the best prospect since Vernon Davis.
Dolphins would have to sign a veteran backup at QB and probably draft a QB in a late round. I like Rusty Smith.
Dolphins still have Starks,Mcdaniels,Dotson,Alama-Francis,Baker and now Suh at DE. Merling and Langford would not be missed. Dolphins would have to find LB's in the middle rounds.
Is it worth it??? How could it be done better???
I just think Suh is on a different level and I'm really sick of not ever having a good TE. Have the Dolphins ever had an all-pro TE?
