Would Vernon Carey Do Any Worse?

If Carey can at least get his body in front of a rushing defender -- even if he gets bulldozed and run over -- that makes him better than anybody we had on the edge last night.

If you've got two guys rushing your gap, get in front of one of them and make sure that Feeley tells you before the game whether he'd rather have that free rusher come from the outside or the inside. Last night, Smith wasn't getting in front of either rusher and they were splitting him on just about every play.

I agree, start Carey. Some guys may not be so impressive in practice, and I think Carey is one of those guys, but often kick it up a notch at gametime. Carey has been very successful in college under enormous pressure, why not give him a chance?

No kidding -- in hindsight we should've passed on Carey and drafted Wilfork. Or we should've traded the #3 to move up and get Shawn Andrews.

Wow - that would have been a brilliant move considering that he (Shawn Andrews) was placed on IR on September 15, 2004.
