If we had not made a trade, do you think one of the two would have been there at 12? Would Philly had been the only team to select a WR between 6 and 12?

I mean the Eagles had to trade up from 12 to 10 so they could jump the Giants and draft Smith. By that logic the Eagles probably would have taken Smith or Waddle at 6 and the Giants (among other teams) could have easily taken the other at 11. I really don’t think either would have been there at 12. I do think we could have stayed at 12 and used a 3rd round pick (like the Eagles) to jump over the Giants at 11 in a trade with the Cowboys and landed Smith or Waddle. But that is entirely in hindsight.

No... and we would have been better off.

We are not losing because of a lack of weapons; we are losing because our Offensive Line and Defensive pass rush are poor.
We are losing because we have terrible coaches on the offenses side of the ball and the defense went away from what worked in 2020.

Unlike some on here, I still love the Waddle pick. I just wish they had a competent OC’s who could produce an offensive scheme that could take advantage of Waddle’s skills. Having him constantly running 4 yard pass patterns isn’t fooling any defense.

Exactly Rashawn Slater come on down would of been a no brainer.

The front office made the bad decision that there were only 4 offensive playmakers in this draft and they were going to get one of the Pitts, Chase, Waddle or Smith quintet no matter what and that's the classic overconfidence in your evaluation. A hallmark of a bad organization.

This team could of traded down from 12 and got Rashod Bateman or Elijah Moore and I'm confident in predicting one or both will be impact playmakers for their teams with long, productive careers. So far only Chase looks as advertised and as much as I personally liked Waddle over Smith, he's not worth 2 firsts and we might say in 2-3 years he wasn't worth one top 6 pick, even if he's good

Agreed.

I have said it many times.

Imo, I never thought we would question if Waddle was the right WR at 6.

We will question whether we should have taken Sewell at 6.

We shall see. So far, I feel I may have been right.

It was said we tried to trade up for Wirffs.

Imagine. Wires and Sewell... one can only dream

The Dolphins have a terrible scouting department. I would fire everyone that has been responsible for evaluating talent in the last 20 years. They all suck. They have missed over and over.

I don't believe Sewell is better than Slater, I saw way too much Rashawn in college against a lot better competition. That being said I think they're both going to be studs but we could have Slater at 12 and like you said if you have Slater/Sewell and Wirffs and still have our pick. But the way our coaches have been game planning this year they may have screwed them guys up to.

The Dolphins’ draft befuddled me.

I wanted Micah Parsons bad. Hoped we could’ve drafted him at 18 but would’ve been fine at 12 too.

No, but the 2nd round WRs would have been just fine too (Marshall or Rondale).

Yeah the Waddle pick was fine. All those Bama WRs are legit, ours included. Our play calling is currently very bad, and we aren't using Waddle nearly enough or in a proper manner. Obviously our OL is unacceptable too.

I think Waddle will be a star WR once this all shakes out. Second guessing the draft now is a pretty casual fan move to do. It is on Flores to show he can put a proper offensive staff in place, this is something he has struggled with now since he took over.
