So Mike Mayock says that if Tannehill is developed properly he could be the next phillip rivers, I have also heard some comparisons to jake plummer because of tannehills ability to throw on the run, so lets say tannehill develops into a combination of both with the arm strength and accuracy of rivers but with the mobility of plummer, would you be happy with this type of qb for the next 10-15 years?

Rivers is way over rated and Plummer never really amounted to much.
Personally I'm hoping for his development to extend beyond both these guys.
My expectations however are low key. It is really hard to tell what will happen.
I think we now have a proper staff in place to develop a QB which we didn't have at all with the last regime.

Rivers is a damn good QB (not overrated imo). I would be ecstatic if Tannehill developed like Rivers.

rivers overrated? ha yea right dude is a top 7 qb in the league i will take him in a heartbeat!

Im not as sold as some people who say that Rivers is a top 5 quarterback as I think there is an over-reliance on the height of his recievers, but he's still a dam good quarterback and if Tannehill developed to be of the same standard, of course I would be happy.

Bah, no thanks. Rivers been an interception/turnover machine as of late (and has a questionable attitude if you ask me) and Plummer has always been a mediocre QB. I think Tannehill if developed properly and given some tools to work with can be better than those two. Time will tell.

As long as he's more like Rivers, then yes. I have always liked Rivers' style and competitiveness. Has some interception tendancies, but they're not dumb throws usually. Just 'trying to make things happen' throws. I could see Tannehill in Rivers' mold, not quite as fiery but a field leader and ultra competitive.

I just want a franchise QB who will be here five to ten years. That's the one thing we haven't had since Marino retired. Other than Pennington and maybe Fiedler, we just have had little stability at QB. Even if Tannehill takes some lumps at QB, hopefully he will develop into a solid QB that we can build our offense and team around. :brewskis:

5 - 10 would be fantastic. it would be great to have that much security at QB for the next decade

I thought this was a trick question at first but then I saw people actually saying that they wouldn't want him to be like Rivers and my immediate reaction was WTF? Rivers has had 4 straight 4,000 yard seasons, has a better than 2 to 1 TD/Int ratio, and a career 95.5 QBR. I mean sure I'd like for Tannehill to end up being the best QB in NFL history but if he ended up being as good as Rivers I'd be a very very happy man.

He's so overrated that he has never missed a game (even started and played a full one with a completely torn ACL) and has only ha 2 seasons where he didnt have a QBR of over 92.. Not to mention 3 consecutive seasons over 100. If you are hoping for Tannehill to be better than Rivers, Im not sure any QB will make you happy.

It's all about the staff................
That's what she said.
