Would you be happy if Tannehill develops intoa a plummer/rivers mix?

Hey, even jake the snake took the horrible playoff starved cardinals to the playoffs early in his career. So while I would hope for more from Tannehill if that's the low bar on a pretty talent deprived offense I would take it.

I don't understand all the negative comments about Rivers. That team should be a perennial Super Bowl contender, the only thing holding them back is Norv Turner and that coaching staff.

Your post sounds like you have been writing the same thing since 1983...... :lol2:

Ok, well this post makes no sense whatsoever.. Dont get the 1983 reference but whatever makes you feel better. Not sure where I contradicted myself.. Mind pointing it out? :lol2:. You post a link to a wiki page as for a definition that really has nothing to do with the topic. Proves you have finally admitted to losing the arguement.. You have made mine and others who do not share your view, arguements too easy.

So Mike Mayock says that if Tannehill is developed properly he could be the next phillip rivers, I have also heard some comparisons to jake plummer because of tannehills ability to throw on the run, so lets say tannehill develops into a combination of both with the arm strength and accuracy of rivers but with the mobility of plummer, would you be happy with this type of qb for the next 10-15 years?

I'd rather not limit him to comparison's to these guys, I want him to develop into something the NFL's never seen, a big gunned, accurate throwing, throw on the run, 4.5 forty, 6'4" quarterback that sets the new standard for what the ideal QB is.

It's easy. It sounds like you are comparing Rivers to Marino. Rivers does not have the moxie to guide his team back and take command of it's shortcomings.
Marino put up points despite having a defense that was soft and gave up points. He also was great at taking a team lacking in other talent and taking them to the playoffs continuously.
Rivers doesn't have the brain for it. Before you put the guy on a pedestal you need to examine all the variables and not just the big numbers.
Also chief I'm not here to have to win arguments with you if that is your game. I don't have time for that sort of child's play. I merely stated my opinion and you jumped all over it.
Calm down. If you are in love with Rivers that's fine.
It doesn't at all change my opinion that he is over rated.

Nope, not easy... Didnt compare Rivers to Marino.. Didnt compare Rivers to anyone.. Simply stated facts.. Sorry attempt to try to put words I never said into my mouth and then try to use that as an argument against me. In fact, YOURE now comparing Marino and Rivers.

Big numbers alone do not determine an elite QB. There are other factors involved.
Rivers hasn't proven he has all those things.
I wan't Tannehill to have those other factors.

Show me an elite QB that doesnt have big, bloated (as you call them) numbers.

It is part of the total package. I never stated that big numbers weren't part of that package.
Rivers is just missing the other factors. For example leading your team to wins.

So let me try to understand your logic... In 2008 Rivers passed for 4000 yards 34 TD's and 11 Int's.. That year the Chargers lost to the Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs 24 to 35. In that game he passed for 300+ yards, 3 td's and 1 Int. So what you are saying is that it is his fault the Chargers defense gave up 2 rushing TD's, a passing TD, and a punt return TD. Since Rivers couldnt dig his team, by himself, out of a hole that a bad Chargers defense and special teams put the offense in, and lead his team to a victory, he is an overrated QB who was missing other factors that year?

You are using one game to break down Philip Rivers. Pretty small sample size.
The Chargers have scored more points in the last two seasons than they have given up yet they missed the playoffs and were 17-15.
I think that is more telling over Rivers ability to overcome adversity.
I would agree with people here that say coaching is a problem. Turner is a moron.
Rivers is a good QB but not elite in terms of doing the type of things to win.
Continuing to roll out his numbers doesn't impress me. You are wasting your time trying to convince me otherwise.

I don't think you have seen Rivers play. He is a true leader on the field. Just the fact that he played in an AFC Championship Game against the Patriots with a torn ACL tells me everything I need to know about his leadership capabilities. The reason the Chargers fold is due to Norv Turner's inept game plans. They start off slow EVERY year, and then turn it on at the end of the year. That's the coach.
