Would you be happy if Tannehill develops intoa a plummer/rivers mix?

I don't think you have seen Rivers play. He is a true leader on the field. Just the fact that he played in an AFC Championship Game against the Patriots with a torn ACL tells me everything I need to know about his leadership capabilities. The reason the Chargers fold is due to Norv Turner's inept game plans. They start off slow EVERY year, and then turn it on at the end of the year. That's the coach.

Hey call it what you will. That is the Chargers problem.
I just hope Tannehill develops into more than just a stat sheet.

Thank you for point even further

So by this statement you are acknowledging/agreeing that the problem is not Rivers but the coaching staff?!?! Finally you see the light.

I'll be happy when he makes me forget Marino!

How could you ever forget Marino!! JK.. I know what you mean.

So let me try to understand your logic... In 2008 Rivers passed for 4000 yards 34 TD's and 11 Int's.. That year the Chargers lost to the Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs 24 to 35. In that game he passed for 300+ yards, 3 td's and 1 Int. So what you are saying is that it is his fault the Chargers defense gave up 2 rushing TD's, a passing TD, and a punt return TD. Since Rivers couldnt dig his team, by himself, out of a hole that a bad Chargers defense and special teams put the offense in, and lead his team to a victory, he is an overrated QB who was missing other factors that year?

The thing is, Rivers is the type of player that would probably be willing to line up on defense too if he was allowed to. He's a fierce competitor, that's my favorite aspect of his game. I see that edginess/confidence/fight in Tannehill too.

How many other players do you know of that would play on a torn ACL? Brady didnt...

Rivers just never seems to get it done.

As has already been alluded to, Rivers is never going to get ANYTHING done as long as he has Norv Turner as his HC. Turner is in the Cam Cameron/Mike Martz club of career assistants who can't walk and chew gum at the same time when they reach the corner office (the club Sparano is working toward membership in as we speak). The category of coaches Ron Zook immortalized for all time in the NCAA.

Rivers, with an efficient coaching staff, in in the Rodgers/Brady/Mannings/Brees stratosphere.

Well, I think his ceiling is higher than that so my expectations are that he falls somewhere between Tony Romo and Aaron Rogers. At his best, Ryan Tannehill already reminds me of Rogers when he is on the move --- not yet in the pocket.

he's a better athlete than jake plummer right now...if he becomes a philip rivers like pocket passer (which i think might be a bit of a stretch but whatev) we'll have an all pro qb and a terrific athlete...who the hell says no to that
