Would you Ditka 2012 draft for luck or another qb

What do you have against Cam Newton? The Guy only won the Heisman, BCS, and abut 20 other player of the year awards. He took his team to an undefeated season, amassing 50 TD'S, and winning games single- handed. He put together one of the greatest single season performances in college history, not just of a QB, but any athlete. If i missed something let me know.

He is a college QB. He does not have skills that translate to success in the NFL. Thats a lock. HUGE bust. I wouldnt have drafted him in the 7th round. It wouldnt have been worth the headache of dealing with the media hype over a guy I wouldve been trying to make into a TE or slot receiver.

So you're saying he is great college player, but not a NFL player. Similar to what they are saying now about Tebow?

yes i would pull a ditka and trade my entire 2012 draft for andrew luck...miami is the one team in the league who i think would have a legitimate shot at contending long term going forward if they just had a franchise qb...

by all means...i'd throw in a high end player also if it meant i could get up there for him...done

this kids the best nfl qb prospect i think in the last 10 years maybe...i'm all in

Sounds like another Tebow...a player who Denver is hitting themselves in the head for drafting. The Heisman means nothing. Anyone know what Chris Weinke, Eric Crouch, and Jason White are up to? How's Matt Leinart and Troy Smith doing? Yeah the Heisman means a lot in the NFL.

why do people keep bringin up tim cough like he was gods gifts to the qb position as a prospect...tim couch couldn't sniff andrew lucks jock strap as a prospect

i wouldnt trade the whole draft but i would def do what it takes to trade up. like the jets did for sanchez

You missed that he's not an NFL QB by any stretch. Guy isn't capable of grasping complex NFL offenses. He was in a high school offense in college...no, seriously, that was a high school offense that they ran at Auburn. No even kidding. Gus brought his offense from his high school coaching days and implemented it in the college game because Cam Newton was the prototypical QB for that kind of system.

I saw that when he was with John Gruden. He couldn't even draw up a semi-complex play on the board or think of one. I wonder why Carolina drafted him???

cam newtons uber physically talented...there's a whole lot more that goes into playing the position i realize that but the physical skillset package is off the freaking charts i know that

this is exactly why i don't want to trade picks for mediocre qbs like kyle orton...i want to be able to package pretty much whatever it takes in the 2012 draft to go up and get andrew luck...i want all my chips on the table and i'm gonna do my damnedest to acquire that pick

period

A great athlete dosent even make a good QB in and of itself. Newton is a great athlete, yea. But, he is no QB. In college and HS, you can often just put the best athlete at QB. Hell, in HS, thats what they almost all do unless they have some rocket arm kid thats a legit true blue QB. In college, thats what they do for the most part as well.

But, even if Newton could understand and execute a complex offense like those in the NFL(which he cant btw as J pointed out), he still couldnt play QB. The guy cant hit the broad side of a ****ing barn with regularity. You have to be precision like accurate to play QB well in the NFL. So Newton would still be a bust even if he ever understands the offense. He ****ing blows. He is just a freakishly talented athlete. Thats all. Good enough to play college ball. Thats it.

I'm on board with dumping a fourth round pick for Orton now.

But if I knew we'd definitely dump our draft next season for Andrew Luck I'd say keep that pick. It's worth it.

However, I don't see us doing it. Even if whoever gets the top pick is willing to trade it to us for HALF of our draft...our front office is too stupid to make that deal.

you may be right...i'm just sayin the physical talents warrant a top pick...i'm not gonna sit here and pound the table for him like i would an andrew luck or anything...but his combo of beat you with his legs and his polish as a passer is the rarest of rare i know that
