Deiter is a FA at season's end. If he stays healthy and plays well enough to not be an eye sore but at the same time isn't anything to write home about, kinda like last season, would you bring him back? If so would you bring him back as the starter or would draft/sign a starter?

How about we wait until the end of the season? Seems premature unless the contract is ridiculiously favoriable to extend him now.
slow news day. trying to get a head start towards what college players to watch for next years draft. i'm just very excited we'll have lots of picks again.

Definitely not a guy you preemptively resign. But offensive linemen are a premier position in 2022. He may end up getting more money in FA than people anticipate. Depends entirely on how he plays this year. He wasn’t good last year but was largely overshadowed by how bad Jackson, Davis, and Eichenberg were.

If he has a great season, you resign him. If he plays at a below average level, you let him walk in free agency and draft or sign another center in free agency for the 2023 season.

He has certainly not shown enough so far that makes him a player they should be looking to sign to a new contract at this time.

If he stays healthy and holds down that starting center position strongly, then I’d extend around midseason. Definitely not now with the uncertainty with how things may play out. If Connor Williams ends up starting at center, then nah.

I'd wait 5 games then trade him with Gesicki for a draft pick. Especially if he is performing well. Because, well draft picks are king. Even if your offense is clicking and performing well, it's always better to look for the future instead.

If he's performing at capable starter level, even better. Grass is always greener on the other side. Why stay with what you know is working when you have a chance at making something else maybe work even better.

Wasn't good? He gave up 1 sack (if that) and not that many hurries last year. I think Deiter is going to be an excellent center for us. Let's let Deiter be our center while we fix the RT, then we can worry about trying to find a better center than Deiter.
I figure you in favor of re-siging him. Yeah I like him too. I'd be interested in trading for dickerson for example in the sake of familiarity w tua but deiter probably has the most familiarity with tua now after these two, going into 3 years.

Yum, yum, yum, I taste a lil' sarcasm, lol! Just trying to keep entertained through slow news days. Now, to defend my point one is on the tag and the other's in the last year of his contract. I really don't see what's so far fetched about questioning whether they'll remain on the team.

I’m with you all the way. We could easily get a center with one of our early picks.
