Better believe I take that. Take it and run. Much easier to build an offensive line in the second and third rounds than it is to hit your franchise QB in the second or third round.

Probably would. Although Jake is one of the best L/T in the league, they are easier to find than quality QB.

I dont know, trade a future HOF lineman for a GREAT looking but still unproven guy... I dont know that I could do that. I would rather trade the next years first or something.
In a heartbeat. It's near impossible to win consistently without a great QB in a QB driven league. Lots of teams play well with average LT's. Besides, Long is not playing anywhere near like a pro-bowler right now. Clearly his injuries have gotten to him...just hope they aren't permanent.

The question was would I make that trade so if I get to play make believe GM then I also get to play make believe HC.
As the make believe new HC I'm not going to risk or rush my franchise QB onto the field. Marino didn't start until week six. I think Luck can sit back for a couple of games and get a feel for the NFL before hitting the field.

This thread is hysterical! Guys 1 out of 32 NFL front offices places LT importance over QB and guess what that it ours! A more realistic scenario is Ireland trading the first overall pic for Romo, the Cowboys backup RT, and first round pick.

No I would not do it. If Miami goes 0-6, I would bench Jake Long for the season so he can properly heal (its obvious he isnt completely healthy yet). With the, say, #8 pick...I would draft another QB like Barkley and use the #8 pick in the 2nd round to get an RT.
I like Luck just as much as anyone else, but he is a college QB. Nobody knows how he will pan out in the NFL. Top college QBs go into the NFL and do nothing sometimes. Miami drafted Pat White, Chad Henne and John Beck and well, look how that went. We need proper coaching, an OL to protect Luck.
No, you keep Long, you draft the 2nd best QB, and then use the 2nd rounder to get an RT. If you by any chance trade Marshall for a 2nd rounder, you use the other 2nd rounder to draft an OG to replace Incognito or Carey.

i agree you bench jake bc he clearly isnt healed. but i disagree with just going for the #2 qb. i would only take the #2 qb if i absolutly had to. luck is the kind of player that you have to go after. trade marshall in the deal next years #1 do what it takes. then yes grab lineman latter in the draft adn in free agency.
