would you guys be ok if we got Brees and nobody else in free agency?

I know a lot of people here would like us to get Brees if he does becomes a free agent but he'd want a lot of money so my question is this.If we can only afford him and nobody else, would you guys want him? My wish is for us to get him and Wayne too.Use our money on 2 top guys instead of getting 5 players that are good but not great.Can you imagine the weapons....Ronnie,Ricky,Booker,CC,Randy,Wayne and Brees getting them the football? Then we could go into the draft thinking defence, defence and more defence with a LT trown in there. But if we can only get Brees I'd still do it and get the rest on draft day.

as long as we drafted some strong defensive players in the draft and filled holes at LB, DT, CB, and S, yes.

Wayne? I don't think we can afford both unless both decide to take pay cuts. If we can afford Brees at all.

agree but imo they will sign him or franchise him. There is simply no way SD is letting a qb coming off what is likely to be a 2nd straight great year leave. I dont care how much they invested in rivers; when every vet is behind brees including the coach hes staying put unless you want a team uprising

I think Brees, presuming he doesn't revert to his rookie performances, would definitely solidify our QB spot. A FA CB might come in handy though since rookies will inevitably make mistakes.

His performance as a rookie was understandable considering San Diego was the worst team in the league then. Its called growth Qb are meant to be immature and then grow as they play more and develop. I know its a hard concept since we always start Qb's that have no more room to grow such as Fielder and Frerotte.

I'm just concerned that perhaps his performance was due to Gates and LT. Sure, we have pretty similar talent but we also have a different O-system.
 
I'd be ok, although I think Brees will stay in San Diego. I'm pretty high on SD right now and believe they're the 2nd best team in the AFC, the best part about the franchise is that A.J. Smith used to be with the Bills, but they've got Donahoe ruining them instead.
 
After watching that Sunday Night game, Drew Brees in my mind is a top 5 QB.
Yes would be my answer and I wouldn't have to think of looking anywhere else. Unless Brady, Manning or Palmer suddenly became available.
 
We're in one of the best cap positions for next year in the league right now. I don't think signing some additional players would be a problem. We'd need some more O-lineman to actually protect him, and possibly another receiver to help CC.
 
Assuming that Brees is available to have (big assumption) then I'd be happy because QB is a position in dire need of an upgrade.

Generally I'm in favor of getting 5 mid priced guys rather than one superstar, but I reckon our team would really rock with a pro-bowl QB pulling the trigger.
 
San Diego will not trade Brees and keep Rivers.

If they were going to do that they would be playing Rivers this year.

They don't have to trade Brees, he's a free agent this offseason unless he signs a deal sometime between now and then. That's very possible that he will, but I'm sure there are a number of things that may prevent that.
