Saban has said that from a practice and conditioning standpoint, Ronnie needs the work. He also acknowledged that Ronnie hasn't been in camp long and it would seem very foolish if Ronnie ended up injured, possibly because he wasn't ready. Looks like Nick is going to play him. What would you do?

Yeah I'd put him in there for a series or 3. Maybe 3-5 carries and throw it his way some.

Anytime a guy runs it whether it is pre-season or the regular season there is always the risk of getting hurt. I would like to see him out there and maybe carry it 5-10 times...play a little against the Steelers 1st defense to see what he can do. :)

Those of you who are scared to put him in -- what the heck did we draft him for? There will always be the chance that he is injured. Just like anyone. Maybe we should just have him smile on the sidelines? He has a nice smile. Maybe he could smile us into the playoffs?

I think I've already said this on another thread, but we need him to play for the first 4 games. Can't do it with any other back on our roster. Therefore, I think we pretty much have to give him about 4 or 5 carries just to get him up to speed and see where he's at.

With the contract we just gave that guy, I think I'd be a little reluctant to throw him out there against a really tough Pittsburgh defense. If he plays with the first team, there's a good chance he won't be up to speed. If he plays in the 2nd half, I would hate to see some scrub jack him up trying to make a name for himself. I say too risky!

Id play him a little against the 1st team defense, let him carry a few and catch a few too. Let him block for ricky a few times to see how he does at that.

He needs the work. 3 days off won't help him any. I say put him in against the 2nd string D. Let him have 5-10 touches and get a feel for the speed of the game in the NFL. I know there is a chance of him getting hurt, but there will always be a chance any player could get hurt on any play.

I dont think Id put him in against the first defense, Id put him in against the second defense and give about 5-7 carries and maybe a few passes.

Well, Nick Saban has a better grasp of where he is in terms of physical and mental ability to play at this point, so I'd defer to him.

What's the worst that could happen? He'd get hurt? I dont think there is a significant increase in the risks of that happening then if he played vs. Chicago and Jacksonville.

I would also put him for 1-2 series against the second team defense.

I would play him for a couple of series, but not against the first string defense. When the Steelers bring on the second string defense we should put our starting O-Line in and let Ronnie run a few times behind the. Maybe 5 to 7 carries.
