Would you take a 2nd this year or 1st next year for Mike Pouncey?

Not sure why all this talk about taking 2nd round draft picks for our young talent (Pouncey and Jordan). It makes no sense.
 
I would sign him to a new contract while he is cheaper
 
Yes. Nothing to do with his ability, but with the issues surrounding him...we may let him walk next year. If not, we would be paying way too much for a center. (He really didn't play that well last year...)

That is good question. Other than Cleveland, I can't think of a another team that may be desperate for a Center.

I would not resign to Pouncey to big $ unless he goes through this season w/o any incidents.
 
A 1st and a 3rd next year...maybe....if a team tosses in their serviceable center on top, sure. Only because I question Pouncey's ability to stay out of trouble, and generally speaking I think he's a DB. Not cuz of the 'bullying' scandal....but anyone who wears a Free Hernandez hat after he's been arrested for murder, and implicated now in other murders as well.....I highly doubt they have the mental acumen to not hang out with the wrong crowd. Plus I think he's a good, not great center. I think he'd be a great guard however. Great centers don't need the right guard to tell them when to snap the ball in the shotgun.

But he's too good to give up cheap.

So, say Jeremy Zuttah and Balty's 1st rounder and a 3rd or 4th next year? I could live with that to let go of a guy who is a bad bachelor party away from being shot or locked up and is going to want an enormous contract in two years.

Nobody trades that for a center.

I guess what my point is that if you think a player is not worth much to you, why would another team give you prime picks?
 
I'd take it, but mostly because he seems primed to blow up off the field.

8.4 million a year is what I thought it was.

I understand where you are coming from & agree. Perhaps, my reply was hazy. Its early here & the caffeine has not kicked in.

Where "market value" is headed IMO is not reasonable, wise, or practical. Because as Mithga13 put it, "... (MP is) a guy who is a bad bachelor party away from being shot or locked up"
 
Take it and run. 2nd round pick for 1 year of Pouncey? Should be easy even for those of you who don't hate him.
 
No offense, but how did you come up with this? And the answer is, there is no way in Hell I would do that.
