Would you take a 2nd this year or 1st next year for Mike Pouncey?

With all regards to OP would you trade pro bowl centers like Langer or Stephenson? Kind of silly if you ask me you have a very young center who still has his best years ahead of him. If anything you build around the kid! Add to it we have a vet on line that could possibly steer him in right direction! And you also have to consider the chemistry between QB and Center. Tannenhill is pretty much looking at a whole new line . I think keeping someone like his probowl center is crucial! As there is alot of communication between them!

You know ima friend, not a foe but, brotha, there's no denying Jordan hasn't been given a chance to prove himself.

On the thread: no devil's advocate. All devil. :)

Jordan should not even be in this conversation. Pouncey has proven himself from day one! I'm still waiting to see if D J to be a more prepared player and show he is worthy of that selection when we drafted him! As we all know Pouncey has shown his worth!

Yeah I glanced at it. When I read it sounded kind of like you were saying Jordan hasn't been given a chance. My bad if I misread. And Jordan may not have been given a chance but some of that may be on him for not preparing himself better. Who knows hopefully he can be what many hope he can be!

I did say that but as opposed to Pouncey who has proven himself. I called the thread starter a devil. Lol im on your side, bro.

We should be smart. IMO we should garner how much he is looking for now, so we have an idea whether or not we will want to resign. If due to demands or questionable intangibles, I would trade now and at least get something for him, especially since Nate Garner not on same level but was impressive last year.

A couple of years ago, we had Jake Long in final year of his contract. There were rumblings then he would not resign and at the time we would have easily got a 1st round pick, possibly more.

I would rather have a high round draft pick, sign a player for 4-5 years on a low contract, over a player that we may lose.

His value is way over viewed here on FH.

First of all, we would be lucky to get an offer of a 2nd round pick for him. Again, just look at the offer for Brandon Albert last year who was viewed as one of the top LTs. We wouldnt give a 2nd for him. We tried to get the deal to a 3rd rounder, KC started at a 1st, but was willing to take a 2nd. Albert is a better player than Pouncey. Throw in Pouncey's off field issues and I dont see how we could get anything more than a 2nd for him.

Reality is that if we could get a pick for him that we could use to replace him(such as that C from FSU) I would do it in a heartbeat. If we could get the same talent or close out of the position minus the headache then its a great deal for us.

Just because we dont have much talent on the OL dosent mean you pass on good moves. Obviously if Pouncey were traded we would need to find another good player to replace his on field value.

Yeah im getting tired of people trying to trade our good players for unknown players. Sometimes I think they just want a team full of rookies..

I think his best years are behind him. He graded negative on run blocking and pass blocking from PFF. He just wants to party and get high. He's facing a suspension this year. Again, the way DTs were two yards in our backfield after the snap, I think he was below average last year. How about trying to be a professional and not smoking weed every weekend?

Funny. I thought a person had to be high to adhere to PFF.

WV, Albert situation was different. He didnt want to be in KC, was on every media outlet assuring that he would not even consider moving to the right side, causing havoc with the front office. Thats why KC wouldve taken a 2 and we were only offering a 3. It was a powder keg of a situation that, unfortunately for us, never exploded.

Again, he cost us a mid first round pick. Select any draft and, unlike Pouncey, see what percentage of those have become first-stringers, let alone elite at their positions. He's a young premier center with his best years ahead of him still. To consider trading him at all is folly; to consider trading him for anything less than a substantial premium above and beyond the mid first round pick acquisition cost for this appreciating asset is flea market-level ridiculousness!

Trade him to left guard...

Albert is also older and carries a large contract. Albert wasn't one of the top LTs, he was one of the top LTs that a team was willing to trade. Do you think the Redskins would give up Trent Williams for a first round pick? Let alone a second?

Pouncey may be overrated on this board but he's still a 24 year old pro bowl center who is much more valuable at his position than Albert is at his. The chance that a first round draft pick turns out as good as Pouncey is not very high.

Two 1st round picks then maybe we'll talk...
