Would you take Vick just to keep the Patriots or Jets from getting him?

I would. I would take him and weather the couple of bad days of press and then I would get on with it. you can stick him at any skill position you want him at and then when you send pat white, mike vick, and ronnie or ricky out there to run the wildcat, watch defensive coordinators heads explode.

We are in the USA. We believe in 2nd chances. No I am not a Vick fan, and yes i think part of his rehabilitation should be to be put in a fight with about 20 of those pit dogs, but I also think that the court made an example of him. Vick made a really really dumb dumb like retardedly ghetto dumb decision and paid for it with over 100 million bucks.

I think that the fins should invite him in and take a look and if he can still run at half his old speed you take him.

and yes my original statement stays, you take him even if its just to keep the pats or jets from taking him...
 
not really. i thought he was pretty marginal as a passer even in his heyday. now he's 2 years removed from playing, and probably not in football shape. i dont care about the dogfighting stuff.

if the pats or jets want him, they can have him. i have faith in the talent evaluation & coaching in our FO, and trust they'll prepare for a guy like vick if we end up facing him twice a year.

IF (huge IF) I were to take Vick, it'd be to play him, not to keep someone else from playing him.
 
If either of these teams were a real threat to sign him.....they would have signed him already.
 
Only if we could pawn off White for a pick other tha that we cant afford to carry 2 qb;s 1 WILDCAT specialist and whatever vick will be this year.
Im sure Vick would play pretty similar to White in the same role this year though.
 
I wouldn't take any player just to keep another team from getting him. If he doesn't fill a need (or a really big want) on the team, then I would pass. There are two many roster spots to play these types of games.
 
I loved the quote from the patriots on vick though. why would we take the best qb in football off the field to play another qb. Best quote I have heard on the subject. At some point if we do that enough a problem will arise.
 
NO!! If you want a player, you get him. You never pick someone up to prevent someone else from getting him.

We've gone over this several times with other players. YOU DON'T WORRY ABOUT OTHER TEAMS! You don't do something because it may affect the other teams in our division. Even the thoughts of doing something like that makes us seem like losers. Winners only care about themselves because they know when they are at their best, they will not be beat.
 
i mean he did something fully knowing it was illegal, to prove to his friends that he was hard or a man...its a mentality that cost him 100s of millions of dollars...Its a mentality that has cost people i played with in high school their lives...and I'd say its pretty dumb...

There's a ton of threads with dumb-dumb ideas about getting Vick and yours is as good as any of them.
