If Luck declares, the Colts will almost surely draft him. If you are Peyton Manning, do you really want to come back to the Colts with Luck breathing down your neck and the team presumably in rebuilding mode? If you are the Colts, do you really pay to have two franchise QBs on your team, with a $21 million bonus for Manning right around the corner?
If the Colts decide to put Manning on the trading block, Manning will have leverage as to where he goes (After all, his net worth is probably a few times larger than Carson Palmer's net worth, for example). My guess: He will want to go to a dome team, or somewhere warm. We fit the bill.
Who else would be interested in Manning? Minnesota has a young signal caller they believe in. Cleveland and Washington might come calling, but those are colder places to play. Tennessee and Jacksonville are division rivals of Indy. The only other contender I can see: Tampa Bay.
Anyway, would you give up our second round pick for Peyton Manning? If no, what would you give up for him?
Personally, I would be pumped going into the season with Manning and Moore as our QBs. I think Peyton is going to have a chip on his shoulder just like Marino and Brady did when they came back from their serious injuries. If Manning makes an exceptional comeback, that would make us instant contenders next season you would have to think, regardless of who our coach is. And it's possible he has three or four more good seasons left at best (two or three at worst, you would think). Plus, the league would love having Brady Vs. Manning two times a year for at least two or three seasons, and we would be certain to get more prime time slots next season...
