They won't trade him. He gets the $28 million if they trade him too.

Oh. I figured we would pay the $21 or $28 million if we traded for him before the deadline. I did not know the Colts are on the hook for that unless he's cut.

2ND ROUND PICK?!? FOR A 35/36 YEAR OLD QB THAT MAY NOT EVER FULLY RECOVER FROM A BAD NECK INJURY?

He's not just a 35/36 year old QB. He's a four-time MVP who only missed ONE SNAP in his entire career before this season. And only Brady can even challenge Manning for the title of best QB of the generation after Marino/Elway/Montana/Favre.

Sorry, this thread deserves all caps. Most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while. Maybe if you said a 5th rounder just to ensure he doesn't sign elsewhere when he gets cut, that wouldn't be so bad, but for a second I'd rather use as ammunition to trade up to #2.

Good luck moving up that many spots with just a second round pick. Or maybe we can just be a homer who sees us waste another second round pick on somebody like Pat White while we start a good backup in the mold of Jay Fiedler (i.e., Matt Moore). That should work a lot better than trying something bold like trading for a four-time MVP QB.

as much garbage as we as dolphins fans have dealt with at the qb position i would absolutely part with a 2nd round pick for a healthy peyton manning...you kidding me...football would be fun again for even 2 years if thats all we got out of it...we'd go into every game feeiling like we got a shot...right now we go into a lot of games hoping we don't get embarrassed...

no brainer

better look over the colts roster when they did win.

not the same team today. a few guys got older and hurt. some are gone.

the coaching is trash now. it take more than one guy. the colts were not near as bad as they looked this year, probably not bowl winners, even with peyton, but they never got over the shock of losing manning and it was COACHINGS fault the team couldnt shake it.

he lost the second time.

Agreed, that's all they've really ever had
.

oh? reggie wayne. dallas clark. edgerin james. all pro, perenial pro bowl center jeff saturday. dwight freeny. bob sanders, who was damned good when healthy. pierre garsant, and that other slouch, the pro bowler, all world, soon to be hall of famer wr, hmmmmm, whos that guy again? uuuuhhhmmmm, OH YEAH!! MARVIN HARRISON!!!

yep. bunch of schmuks ol peyton had to sluff along with.

Oh boy a whole 2nd round pick for a healthy Peyton Manning? I'd hate to miss out on the likes of Chad Henne , Pat White or Phillip Merling for a chance to get Manning. You guys are nuts, this is a no brainer.

Oh. I figured we would pay the $21 or $28 million if we traded for him before the deadline. I did not know the Colts are on the hook for that unless he's cut.
Either way, I'm not trading a second AND paying him that.

No way they trade him to an AFC team, I see a similar situation to when Brett Farve was traded. GB traded Farve to an AFC team in hopes of not having to face him, of course the next year he went to the Vikings.

What makes you think playing in warm weather is that important to him? I don't think any team will pay and give up more for him than Washington. Marino and Brady were both younger when they came back from their injuries and Manning would be coming back to an entirely new team. Peyton's in a really tough spot. He's so entrenched in that system he helped build in Indy that to be suddenly thrown out of it at his age coming off of injury... it's just really rough.

If they get rid of him, I think he will be released rather than traded. No way would they pay him all that money just to trade him, even if they could trade him for 2 or 3 first round picks, I don't think they would think they are worth that much money.

Peyton is worth every penny and pick. Let's not forget it's Peyton Manning..
Of course our doctors would make sure he could play ,so FOR SURE!!!
He would possibly bring our team deep into the playoffs.

Yes I would rather take a chance on him, because if he is healthy Miami becomes an instant superbowl contender no matter who is the head coach, no matter who else we draft etc. If he isn't healthy then it's only a second round pick we gave up, we always waste them anyway. Unfortunately, the Colts won't trade Manning. They'll keep him and also take Luck. Jim Irsay pretty much confirmed that when he was interviewed before one of their Thursday night football games that was on NFL network, against Houston I think.

I mean, what are the odds of one team getting an elite QB with the first pick of the '98 draft, being a superbowl contender for more than a decade, and then the year he goes down injured leaving them to be the worst team just happens to be the year the next coming of Manning declares.

Sux :scan:

yes Id give up a 2nd, but no need to. He will b cut 4 sure
