Do you think that Miami could get a 2nd round pick for Ricky Williams? Maybe from a team like the Broncos.

If so, would you make that trade?

If you don't think that Miami can get a 2nd round pick for Ricky, what draft pick do you think we can get for Ricky?

I would trade Ricky now while he has some value. He is getting older and he isn't even our starter. Plus Patrick Cobbs has looked pretty damn good.

but then we dont have 3 different style RB's to attack with in different ways, then we'd have to go out and get one.... you really want to add RB to a position of need?

No one is going to trade a 2nd round pick for Ricky. We would probably be lucky to even get a 4th or 5th round pick for him.

Ricky will be 32 when the season starts and is one failed drug test from being kicked out of the league completely. He is too much of a risk for teams to give up draft picks for him. He also publicly stated last May that he plans to really only play two more seasons. So, it is possible that the upcoming 2009 season is his last.

Right now, Ricky is more valuable on the Dolphins team then anything you would get in a possible trade. He is signed with the team for a dirt cheap contract and running back is a position we don't need to fool with this offseason.

the topic I thought would never come up again [sigh]

would you buy a used Ferrari that has a ticking bomb in it?

We almost had the deal with Denver a few years back, but then Ricky got suspended again.

I'd say he's a Dolphin until his career is over.

I know getting a 2nd round pick is a reach, but somehow we managed to get a 2nd rounder for Jason Taylor, even though he was older than Ricky is now, and publicly said that he was probably only going to play for one more year, plus he had that whole "Dancing With The Stars" fiasco, and he had a falling out with Bill Parcells.

Maybe a team like the Broncos might give a 3rd rounder for him. He would probably tear it up as a starter for them. Of course, he did have that whole mental meltdown that nobody will forget about.

If we we're offered a second(which we never will be) I would be very hesitant to pull the trigger. Ricky is a Miami Dolphin.

If we could find someone dumb enough to give us a 2nd round pick for him I would be dancing on the ceiling. I like how Ricky has come back this year and think he'll be better next year with knowing the offense and what to expect but a 32 year old running back is like a 38 year old quarterback in that the the clock is ticking. Now with him backing up Ronnie it will probably prolong his career by a year or so but the age coupled with the possibility of a lifetime ban make it a dream. Then again Rick Spielman is helping to call the shots in Minnesota right?

Jason Taylor and Rick Williams are very different.

Jason was not a failed drug test away from ending his NFL career. He was coming off a Pro Bowl season and committed two years to the Redskins when they made the trade. Also, the Redskins just lost their starting DE and they believed(wrongly) that they were on the brink of a championship.

Ricky Williams is not a full time starter in the league anymore. He is great at what he does right now with splitting time with Ronnie Brown.

Ricky is too much of a risk for any team to make a trade for him.

I think if Ricky was released, he MIGHT get picked up by another team. But he doesnt have a good record. Nobody in their right mind would trade for him.

I'm actually a Ricky fan, but as everyone else has so clearly pointed out, there is no way any team is foolish enough to burn a 2nd on an RB like Ricky with his age, brittle nature, and two strikes against him. If a team were so foolish, I'd snatch their hand off making that deal in a nano-second, and I wouldn't care whether they were in our division or not.
