After Trufant and Ashomuga got tagged and with Samuels price getting higher by the minute, would you trade the #1 pick to Atlanta for Deangelo Hall and whatever pick they get in the first round? (Atlanta's pick will be either 3, 4 or 5)

I know that according to the value chart the Phins would be paying a lot, but on the other hand we would get two quality players out of it, so I'd do the deal.

I'm not sure some who hold to the finite math of the point values would necessarily agree, but if we only move down a couple spots and get a top notch CB out of the deal . . . why not. Pending the movement post-combine, there's probably at least 3 or 4 guys that are pretty close in talent and fit our needs. I don't think Atl would do that deal, but it's worth asking.

Would i? Yes.

Would they? no way. why int he world would the falcons trade up? They're the only team in the top 6, excluding maybe us, who needs a QB. if they want Ryan their gonna get him. And if they want McFadden, all they have to worry about Oakland, and they might get ahead of them due to the coin flip.

Absolutely.

We'd get a certainty. A sure thing. Something that doesn't exist when you're drafting a player. Every year some hyped-up ends up being "the bust" of the draft and going by our record, we'd probably be the ones to draft the bust. I'd take Hall and move down a few spots any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

And the kicker is we wouldn't have to pay as much money for 3,4, or 5 as we would for the #1.

Just because no other teams in the top 6 need a QB, doesnt mean a team that does, wouldnt be willing to move up ahead of atlanta to get one.

trading with us would insure they get their guy. Baltimore comes to mind here....

I would. And it would still be a good value because of who you would be aquiring. This and the amount of money saved from getting out of the #1 pick should be worth at least few more good players thru future FA, and/or resigning your current productive players.

Any GM would take this deal but no GM would offer it.

At first I thought you were saying Hall plus their round 3, 4, and 5 picks....which is closer to what could actually happen. But we would only consider that if we're sure that Beck is our guy and we weren't planning on drafting Matt Ryan.

Then we'd get a shutdown corner plus a lot of middle round picks to build up our roster with, and they would get picks 1 & 3 (or 4 or 5) and they could come away with Matt Ryan and Darren McFadden. Would be a win-win.
