The other day I was thinking about how the face of sports and team icons have changed over the years. Not too long ago, once a team acquired a player of iconic or even pro bowl status, that player became attached to the team and the city never to be seperated. These days one sees quite a bit more schuffeling of top talent. Personally I miss the days where you knew your team may not be capable of lauching from 4-12 to 12-4 but you knew your favorite players would be on the field for the upcoming years.
While we sit on the verge of a new culture we should expect change. Perhaps that change may come in the trade of a favorite player of yours (see Surtain). It may even be JT or Zach some day.
My question to you is would you trade Dan Marino (or insert your all time favorite player here) for a shot at the super bowl? Personally I would loose my mind to see Danny in different colors and perhaps jump of a building if those colors were Bills, Jets or Pats colors. No ring opportunity would make that trade worth it for me. I watched Dan's last debacle with a warm heart still hoping he would come back. The knowledge that he was not the same guy made no difference. He was the Fins to me and I could never see trading such a player for any opportunity.
Thoughts?

dan brought all the glory possible to us except a super bowl i would never trade him away for what he brought to us, he belongs in fins colors forever

i sure of heck would have been too

There isnt a trade out there that would of given us any better of a chance than Danny did. He was the heart and soul of the fins for years. He is the only reason we won 30-40% of the games we won. I honestly dont think we would have been the franchise we are now without Dan in the 80's and 90's. So the answer is no, I would never have traded Dan Marino for anyone.

Marino to Moss would've been a sight huh...a little bit of me wanted him to get his ring with Minn or with some other team...no one deserves it more than him right now.

I remember hearing about this possibility and getting sick to my stomach. The thought of Dan in another uniform was disgusting to me.

How about Zach or JT??

Zach and JT are great players but they cant hold a candle to Dan when it comes to value to a franchise. There is only one Dan Marino but you can find Zach and JT type players all over the NFL.

There are some probowl, iconal players that can be traded and some that cannot. Patric Surtain is an awesome player, possibly in the top five in the league but when you talked about the heart and sole of the Miami Dolphins you were talking about Zack, Jason, Tim Bowens and mabey Madison. Surtain was not the kind of player that made those around him that much better like the guys I just mentioned, though he made our safteys look a hell of alot better. If I saw Dan in any other colors than aqua and orange I would cry and lay in the fetal position for weeks

zach and J.T. have become the face of the dolphins d for many years now they are very good players, i htink they will be even more apreciated when theyre gone, there those kind of player but marino was the player that not matter when it was u wanted him on your side

That's how I felt. I would have been happy for Dan if he could have got a ring with another team.

for him, i would be happy but for me and us i would be jealous and feel a little betrayed

Dan is my all-time favorite Dolphins player BUT I would trade anyone for another Superbowl.....You got to put the team first. Just being honest....I'm 39 years old and saw the Dolphins win back to back SB's in the early 70's, and have waited 30+ years for another .....I just hope I wont have to wait forever and be like an 80 year old Red Sox fan who waited their whole life to see them win another one. :shakeno:
