So if Bell becomes a cap casualty, would you feel comfortable with jones switching over to strong safety which is actually his natrual position, and maybe bringin in reggie nelson to play FS?, or maybe even gholdson from SF?

I am not a Jones guy, but he is a better fit at SS than FS. The cap savings are needed by cutting Bell.

I would have trouble trusting him to be the water boy. He was just so bad last year...

Nuh-nope. Never gonna break the .500 barrier with that stuff ... AND thin depth to boot.

My hunch ... they'll look for a CB & try Smith at one of the Safeties. But then there's that tackling issue.

I'm honestly all for it. Bell makes way too much to be a glorified linebacker. Jones improved over the season, his tackling is solid, his pursuit is crazy. And even if his coverage skills were questionable at times, it is still an improvement over Bell.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Bell! He's a memorable Fin

He's not a starter or even a backup on a good team. Jones is a special teams player, and that's it.

I think Reshad will thrive at SS.....not as a starter though

I think he could make a great SS. He should've never been put at FS to start last year, and Clemons should've been left back there. As SS his main responsibility wouldn't be over-the-top coverage which is where he lacks. He is a big hitter and his skill set is best suited for SS.

i resign Bell as a part time starter with a redone conract that makes everyone happy. Then Jones comes in with more PT at his natural position.

If not, byebye bell.

I don't trust Reshad Jones at starter in anything other than the preseason finale. I default to my comment when we signed him, "Bad news."

They've legislated hitting out of the safety position and Jones doesn't have much to fall back on, certainly not instincts.

IMO, the recent bargain basement secondary draft picks won't pan out, including Jones, Carroll and Wilson. In fact, I think Wilson is a candidate to regress and disappoint next season, if he's asked to play regularly. Great aggressiveness as a blitzer and kick blocker but I don't like his height or cover skills. Granted, it's partially because I think he's a murderer. I followed that case in real time in the Montana media and message boards. Wilson's version is bunk.
