I was thinking about this after the Pats game. Is it harder to be a fan of a team that is seemingly on the rise and struggling to 'get over the hump' or a fan of a team like the Pats, Colts or Steelers, for example, who have won the vast majority of their games over the past several years but show signs of being on the decline...at least in the case of the Pats and Steelers.

I hate when the Dolphins lose, but these last two seasons have been incredibly fun to watch...even in the face of some excruciatingly disappointing losses.

For me, it was absolutely brutal to watch the Dolphins on the decline after Dan. You know diehard Pats and Steeler fans are ready to check themselves into mental hospitals right now.

Thoughts?
 
They are still winning. I'm sure it's not too stressful rooting for a team that is winning. We went through it.

The ride to and over the top is well worth any possible decline. And there's never a guarantee of a decline once a team peaks. Don't assume the Patriots are just going to fade away now. It's not like they're completely falling apart. They will still be a contender for the next couple of years easily, even if they don't win a superbowl. It's not like dominant teams are afforded less of an opportunity than the mediocre and bad teams in the offseason other than a lower draft pick. They have as much opportunity as anybody to improve their team.
