good point and it's likely that even if we did sign him he would be no better than 4th on the depth chart....at the best to begin with. But the fact that he excelled at LSU with Saban may mean something to Reed in that he not only understands what Saban will expect but perhaps even feel that Saban could get him back on track.

Then again, he may have hated Saban or Saban may have hated him? There's not telling but I'd still think he's worth a tryout. I could honestly see him as a #5 reciever behind Chambers, Booker, Boston, And Gilmore with him pushing Welker for a WR spot (but not pushing his roster spot as we all know Welker's a given as our returner). But If we only keep 5 wr total, then that wouldn't leave any room for another WR....that is unless Saban thinks Reed could replace Gilmore? And I'm not to sure about that.

Anyway, I'll go ahead and put my WR depth out there....I'm figuring on us keeping 5 WR (I just don't think we need more than that)..in this order:

Chambers
Booker
Boston
Gilmore
Welker

I see Davis and possibly Mann making the practice squad...I think Thompson is traded or cut (I should say I hope he's traded or cut). I really don't want the guy on the team!

Has Davis been getting any playing time I really thought he was going to be a good player

his reps have slowed as the preseason has gone on.

Josh Reed wont be cut. He played a fine game tonight, he'll be needed during the early part of the season. He'll have a good year as the slot man for us.

Since when are our WRs stacked? Anyone count the drops last game. I know there are serious OL and QB problems but the more competition the better. Josh Reed could be a WR that Saban could get through to. He was great after the catch (and he caught the ball) at LSU. Maybe it's the climate up there that causes him to drop the ball in Buffalo!

If he can't catch it in Buffalo we don't need him here

of course you dont want us to get him....because hes a player from your team and bills fans are selfish jerks who cry about ever little problem with their team, or another team that they have no buisness commenting on.
even though our recievers are stacked, it still might not be bad to take a look at him.

UGH BILLS FANS!

Now why did you have to do that?? This is exactly the kind of attitude that creates 95% of the problems on our site. And I'm sick of it.

Your attempt to ruin the thread is not appreciated. Straighten up or you're finished here.

Thank you to everyone who didn't let this take the thread off track. Much appreciated.

Carry on.

2 catches for 13 yards?

Not saying he played bad because the whole offense looked bad. He didn't do anything to show he played a good game.

Josh Reed has no value to our team. I would rather keep Maurice Mann than DT btw. I wonder if every LSU player on the bubble is going to have their own thread about being brought in?

Josh Reed's pro career after dominating the SEC at LSU:

1st year: Played really well as the 3rd receiver in a Bills offense that passed for a lot of yardage. Seemed very polished, physical and had really great hands. Played well enough that the Bills felt comfortable trading Peerless Price because Josh Reed would be the #2.

2nd Year:After being elevated to the #2 spot Josh Reed was expected to replace Peerless Price. Problem for him is that Price was a vertical threat and Reed is more of a possession receiver. Started losing confidence in himself because he was out of position in an offense that demanded he go deep. Started dropping balls and it got worse once Moulds was injured.

3rd Year:Was now going back to the slot with the drafting of Evans. Got injured and we barely saw him play. Still seemed to have lost his confidence from the following year plus the injury.

4th Year:Bills draft Roscoe Parrish to replace him who plays lights out from the minute he shows up in mini-camp. Reed looks like he still is not playing with confidence. Parrish gets injured. Reed is now fighting for #3 spot with University of Buffalo WR Drew Haddad. And the rest remains up in the air.

I believe the Bills will keep Reed and let him play out this year. He will be resigned ONLY if he distinguishes himself but that will be hard with Moulds, Evans, and now Roscoe at 1,2,3.

I don't see Reed getting cut this year but a Saban reunion is certainly possible after the year is over. I like the kid, maybe he just needs a change of scenery. He is according to our WR coach great at running routes, getting separation, blocking. He just needs a sports psychologist to help him regain his confidence in his formerly great hands.

On a different note, I don't think he gets cut because he fills that slot WR position and Roscoe, although a great player, has a long history of getting dinged due to his small stature.

Most of the other receivers either don't have the pedigree or don't profile as a slot WR like Reed does.

He'll make that team and be a guy they'll use some as Parrish inevitably gets hurt this year.
