Scary to say but i believe Pennington might be the best game manager here in ages, Henne is the future but this season is on Pennington.

Not since Dan left have i not cringed when the dolphin offense took the field.

Many hated him but Jay was our best game manager since Dan left .

just my oppinion.

all oppinions appreciated

I really dont think games will come down to pennington. he'll lead a lot of 10 and 12 play drives, but it will be our running game and our ability to stop the run that will get us the most wins. our defense will have to be the more improved squad in order for us to win.

I'm encouraged from what I have seen in preseason. the pass rushers are very active, the secondary is turning out to be a strength on the team and the linebacking corps are looking decent, especially is porters back doesnt flare up anymore.

we will not roll over late in games like last year. this team will be high energy and well conditioned and coached. it will make all the difference and if we avoid major injuries, this team could gel and get even better in the second half of the year.

Basically what i said, ball control and moving the offense . TOP wins games.

I agree about Pennington. But, before we anoint Henne as our furture why don't we see him in some games that count. We did that with Beck prematurely and see what it got us. We put him in way to early and messed him up. I've no intention of making this a Beck thread. I'm just saying we need to see more of Henne. What I have seen is promissing but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

I dont see Henne playing unless the wheels fall off again and we're 2-8 or something. I highly doubt that happening again. He'll get plenty of practice time every week and get continued tutoring from Pennington. Thing about Henne, coming from a place where there is so much pressure, he doesnt get too rattled. I think he could handle it if they stuck him in there. He'll be the starter when he knows the offense fully and can effeciently read NFL defenses.

No, making plays on both sides of the ball wins games. A team can play "keep away" all game long, but if it doesn't finish the job and punch it in for TDs and not FGs it will lose most of the time. I like this new physical attitude we have but teams will not allow you to run down their throat. Plays must be made in the passing game especially in today's NFL.

As to Beck, he basically got th Joey Harrington /David Carr trauma thrown to the sharks hate to lose him. Pennington gives this team the best chance to win this yr and grow Henne and possibly Beck.

True but when ur defense spends 40 plus minutes on the field, it doesnt matter need to eat the clock up.

Penny is only 32 and if he continues his current path and gets better at running the offense I would not be surprised if he has the reins here for 3-4 years. Is that good? don't know, but last year we thought Beck was the answer and look what happened. Henne looks like he may be a good QB in the NFL, but as you all saw, he was less than impressive against Kansas City. I'm going to take it one year at a time, but right now there is no doubt Penny is the best QB in camp.

Scary lmfao < I didnt draft him in any of my leagues

Henne is a rookie, its to be expected that he's inconsistent at times. he has looked light years ahead of Beck and McCown, though. He just doesn't look intimidated and when he is able to step up and throw, whoa!

I love how people point to running stats and TOP to say that wins games...it's really quite the opposite...teams run the ball more because they are winning and running leads to higher TOP. Again, if you ain't winning the game, chances are you ain't running the ball and you ain't got TOP on your side.

So if ur defense spends 40 mins on the field think u win?

WITHOUT SOME WHAT OF A PASS GAME 8 IN THE BOX

The label "game manager" is often overused. However, in this case, that is exactly what Chad Pennington is. In fact, he's more of an "offense manager" or even a "team manager". He's the reason why labels like "leader" and "game manager" look so overused...because when a guy like Pennington comes along, he shows you what those words really mean. Whereas, those words were attributed pretty commonly to Josh McCown, and that was WAY off the mark, IMO.

Josh McCown is not a game manager. Nor is he a team leader.
