A source confirmed today that the Dolphins are using one of their 30 permitted non-local visits on LSU receiver Odell Beckham, who many analysts believe could be selected in the top 20.
Beckham told Sirius Satellite Radio today that he plans to meet with Miami, and a league source confirmed he's visiting Davie this coming week.
That means the Dolphins are using at least three (and possibly more) of their maximum 30 permitted visits on high-end receivers. USC’s Marqise Lee, projected to go in Miami’s range, visited this past week. Mississippi’s Donte Moncrief, a potential second-rounder, also has booked a visit.
And Miami also has been linked to two other receivers expected to go in the late teens or early 20s: Oregon State’s Brandin Cooks and FSU’s Kelvin Benjamin.
Which all raises the question: If the Dolphins are perfectly content with their receiver group, why are they summoning several potential first- and second-round receivers to Davie?
Due diligence? Perhaps.
