This is the most disappointing area of our team in terms of wasted talent. With the WR's we have there shouldn't be any team that can stop them. The one area of their play, other than booker is aggressiveness. Boston played the long ball like a young Chambers, waiting for it to come down into his chest instead going up and catching it at the highest point. Why can't Mcmicheal thinking be in all our receivers...our guys want to wait for the ball to get to them instead of attacking the ball, which allows DB's to get a hand on them....Baggart has to do a better job of coaching this..it's not showing up on the field if he is..Moss was a natural at it...I don't think it was coaching. Our recievers have got to learn to say throw it up and and I'll go get it.

Actually I was a little disappointed in the play-calling today. Both on offense and on defense. I believe we should have shown much more house blitzes on defense on 3rd and long. Bring the heavy blitz and cover the hot route because I don't think Chad Pennington gets that ball out to beat it if he's under heavy fire.

And on offense, last week I noticed we brought out a LOT of the 4 WR sets to get Wes Welker matched up to convert third downs. I didn't see that as much today at all. Last week they rolled out the no-huddle to get people in rhythm and tire out the defense. None of that either.

I agree. It's beyond frustrating to watch these guys, especially Chambers who is hyped as potentially great. I'm tired of hearing it. I want to see results. Frerotte may not be GREAT, but he has to be frustrated by the lack of effort by these recievers. With our running game struggling, these recievers HAVE to step it up and be clutch. We can't afford to be weak in an area that should be a strength.

You noticed that too. I still think our WR's aren't aggressive enough, they're too laid back for me when the ball is in the air..We didn't go deep as much as I thought we would today. I think interference penalities pile up on the D in those situations..but if our WR's don't keep the DB's honest, then those long balls will become int's.

Yeah our WRs need to learn to be extremely aggressive when the ball is in the air. This is why I was not so in love with Boston as everyone else on the board. He's still not doing the little things that he did when he was great.

Chambers is capable of doing that stuff. Not sure if Booker is truly capable of fighting for those balls.

I've thought this since mini camps, but I think Saban err when not keeping Sullivan as the WR coach..I actually think that guy was getting more out of our Receivers last year..they seem to have regressed a little this year..trying to beat everyone with speed and not body position. Even D. Thompson was starting to come around.

this is why i prayed hard for us to draft rashaun woods wr form osu last year he has been injured but he got screwed over by erickson but hell he is better then any of our guys except maybe booker .

Chambers looks like he loses concentration at times, way too often.

I wonder if Chambers is really good enough to be a #1? He has all the talent in the world but has never had 1000 yds. He reminds me of Jerry Porter, all talent, but can't seem to put it all together consistantly.

I have always been HUGE on Chambers, but I would be lying if I said I wasnt terribly dissapointed today. It's really true that he will never fight a db for a ball, and that drop he had today was ridiculous...

I was also wondering why they didn't go to the 4-WR sets earlier...and I also wondered why they didn't blitz more, particularly early in the game.

I'm a little concerned that other teams will look at what the Jests did to our secondary and continue to exploit it...

Another thing...Chambers and others dropped a few today, but look at how many times last week they had to adjust to the ball coming from Frerotte. He was throwing behind them a lot...today I didn't notice that as much, but he was inaccurate on the deeper routes and outs...even on the Chambers drop on the sideline, he had to adjust his route at the last minute...that said, it was a catchable ball.

Funny thing is, I wonder how much better Frerotte, the RBs, and the WRs would be if our OL was better ???

These WR's need to get open, and catch balls period. They have the talent and these guys aren't getting the job done. Boston and Chambers are really underacheiving big time. Booker is doing better then expected, getting open and making big plays. The group as a whole is underacheiving. Gus is getting the ball to them, so I don't want to hear them blame it on Gus.
