WR Possibilities, are we going to add another peice?

Maybe it is late and I am just a little off...

I have been thinking about this for the past couple of days, ever since I read somewhere that the Trifecta would not be apposed to going after another WR:

There are quite a few veteran Wideouts left looking for a team and the 2 that intrigue me the most are Marvin Harrison and Armani Toomer. Now, don't get me wrong as it stands right now I don't think we really need either of them.

However, let’s say either of these 2 things happens:

1) Camarillo has a setback and is not ready for the start of the season (God forbid, knock on wood)

2) The receiving core is just not where the Trifecta wants it (i.e. Turner is not ready).

I do think we have guys on the roster that can take Camarillo spot (i.e. Bess, Armstrong, Hartline). But, Marvin Harrison could be a great option to fill that role, be a great mentor to our young guys, and probably would not cost too much money.

Now, if Turner is not ready we need a big WR to fill his role and I do not think Wilford is it (see last season). I think Armani Toomer could fill that void, be a good mentor, and probably would not cost too much money.

Any thoughts/comments? :ponder:

Wait...wait, why not just trade for Boldin?? :chuckle:

But seriously makes you wonder why he is being excluded from all the stuff with the team as far as permotions for tickets, etc if they still want him around. :ponder: And I know his asking price went down during the draft as no one would give up what they wanted. The only thing that makes me wonder is that Hartline is called a better version of Cam, which makes me wonder if he is there to push him along or if Cam has to worry about getting a spot. And this is also the reciever Henne requested when the FO asked him who he wanted.

Thanks for reminding me about hartline, forgot too put him in as a possible replacement for Cam.

As for Boldin, ya I would love him here...but, somehow I think he stays in AZ.

I don't see any additional signings unless we have a serious rash of injuries. As is the team will face some tough decisions or have to carry 6 rather than risk losing a promising young receiver.

I think watching how the WR battle plays out should be the most intriguing aspect of preseason.

how could you say the possibility of adding raw talent that harrison has, to the dolphins, wouldn't help? he isn't the same explosive receiver he used to be but he is a threat none the less. we have no older receivers. look at JT. players will learn from him like receivers would learn from harrison (or a wider receiver of his calibur).

how about tossing wilford or london out and place in a vet?

as parcells says, anytime you can upgrade any position, you are improving the team. I think a someone like harrison WOULD be an upgrade even in the 2nd or 3rd spot. no?

newsflash everybody bess replaced camarillo

Teams like the Bears, Rams and Ravens have worse/equal WR's as the Fins, yet have not called upon Marvin Harrison. According to NFL Total Access also, there has been no buzz about Harrison and many teams think he is done. Not saying he wont find a team in the mean-time, but the un-eagerness to pen his signature says alot to me.

Just because other teams don't jump on other players doesn't mean a lot towards talent but that teams system. as a phinphan you should know. Jason Taylor came off a bad season and was not optioned by many teams yet he seems to be a good relatively cheap option for the phins.

Marv put up decent numbers last year and he obviously isn't the player he used to be.

And be careful how much you buy into talk shows with analysts and people who are on television and not calling the shots. According to ESPN when T.O. was released they claimed no team was interested in getting involved with him because of his "issues". Yet soon after the Bills gladly scooped him up.

We def have our hands full with receivers but a tough player like Harrison could go a long way as far as teaching younger players.

Toomer is done.

As for Harrison, never hearing even his name involved in a possible FA signing speaks volumes. I can't believe his drop off happened so quickly, but it seems to be the end for him.

Out of all 32 teams in the league, if one of them taught Harrison could still do the business in the NFL he would have been snapped up long ago. We are now coming into August and he's still on the market. Look at Joey Galloway, within less than a month of being cut by the Bucs, the Pats had snapped him up. Take into account that Galloway is a year older than Harrison. Derrick Mason announced his retirement last week and Haubaugh is doing everything he can to get him back, instead of going for a player like Harrison. It's clear that most in the league think he is done.

Unless a team gets riddled by injuries like Seattle did last season, then his career is over.

I just dont know if we have the roster room... we cant put Hartline or Turner on the practice squad, they would surely get picked up... so we have to keep Ginn, Bess, Camarillo, Hartline, Turner on the active roster, thats already 5 WRs, i doubt we keep more than that...

Dont kid yourself :), JT drew alot of interest, his heart was set in Miami and a such he payed them no mind.

I dont see us making a run for a big name wr at this point. Our team is set up with a lot of potential at the WR spot. As long as Pennington is our QB, then we have the perfect WR's for his skill set currently on the roster.

I would not be willing to give up on any of our up and comming wr's at this point to make room for a experienced but declining Vet.
