Well looks like this might be the most intriguing camp battle because there a lot of guys deep on the depth chart that fans like.

SAFE- Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Jarvis Landry

I think we can all agree that Wallace and Hartline are the two safest WR on the roster with the other one being current 2nd round pick Jarvis Landry.

BUBBLES- Brian Gibson, Rishard Matthews, Damien Williams, Stephen Williams, Armon Binns, Marcus Thigpen, Matt Hazel

Brian Gibson and Rashard Matthews are the most talented out of the next group. Gibson is coming off knee injury and makes the most $$$ out of the bunch and Matthews is in the Philbin dog house making them potential cuts. I hope they don't cut Gibson because I feel like the Jets/Pats will pick him up and burn us.

Armon Binns is someone who excited me last year before his injury and I think he could push some guys. Damien Williams has most experience outside of Gibson. Thigpen is best return man out of the bunch but will that be enough to warrant a roster spot? Stephen Williams is redone target and Matt Hazel is a Hickey/Philbin draftee.

CUT/PS- Kevin Cone, Ryan Spadola, Rantavious Wooten

Just too much talent to keep these guys on active roster.

My version of Dolphins Survivor - The Wide Receivers:
(starting with the first cut)

Ryan Spadola
Rantavious Wooten
Kevin Cone
Marcus Thigpen
Damian Williams
Armon Binns
Stephen Williams

-roster spots-

Matt Hazel
Rishard Matthews
Brandon Gibson
Brian Hartline
Jarvis Landry
Mike Wallace

I cannot see us not having Thigpen right now, isn't he are only proven special teams guy. Unless Hazel is going to take the job on then that will a good WR core.

Hazel will be placed on ps.

IF we keep 5 active, my game time starters will be the obvious receivers, but in this order:

Wallace
Hartline
Matthews
Gibson
Landry

I just don't believe that Matthews is in the dog house any longer or he wouldn't have said anything about it, like he did. That's over and I think he'll be the slot receiver this year.

I'm thinking Landry returning punts and Miller returning kickoffs.

i'm thinking the same thing, but with Binns making the 53 and Hazel being put on the practice squad.

I think that Marcus Thigpen is in trouble and probably gets cut. Rishard Matthews looked pretty good at times but he has clearly annoyed Philbin (and occasionally pissed off Tannehill) - he is probably on the bubble. I don't know how good Hazel is but somebody has seen something they like to draft him - maybe they even risk him on the practice squad.
Damian Williams was a decent receiver in Tennessee who has underperformed and spent a lot of last year injured. I seem to recall that he is extremely high character (top of the class in that dimension and Joe will love that) and can return kicks. Armon Binns is 6'3" and Stephen Williams is 6'5" so they have some height that Lazor enjoys big tall targets for big chunk yardage plays - eg Riley Cooper in Philadelphia. Joe has been incredibly patient re Armon Binns' development despite his early injury last season when he was set to shine.
I expect that we have 6 WRs on the roster and somebody on the practice squad. I think that Wallace, Hartline, Landry and Gibson are safe but it's anybody's guess for the final 2 positions.

if they keep 5 even with mathews prior issues i dont see them cutting him...he's a pro...the dolphins didnt meet with him cause they don't like the player...wallace hartline gibson landry mathews...it comes down to if the team keeps 6 who the 6th will be and the only two i'd consider are binns and hazel...everything else is camp fodder...wild card being stephen williams but he doest understand the nuances of playing in our offense...and he won't win enough against top 3 level corners to validate a spot...how i see it shaking out barring injury

if thigpens competing at wr now it does not bode well for him making the roster...he better ball out as a returner or his job looks gone to me

at tight end three locks i see are clay, sims and lynch...if they keep a 4th it's egnew and hoskins competing...6 wrs probably means bad news for a 4th tight ends chances...lynch and sims they will bet on...i said before lynch athletically is limited but you will get max effort and while his in line blocking is overrated at this stage he won't outright blow many assignments...and he's absolutely more polished and nfl ready than egnew was coming out...he understands the position and his responsibilities and he looks like a quick study even if he looks like he's carrying a load in his pants running routes down the field...not a bit of suddenness to his game or explosion but he can rip thru and win to the inside against a lb relatively quickly and he will surprise you with his catch radius at times...i expect to see sims has become more dependable in line as well with an nfl offseason to work at his craft and technique even if he's always gonna be a 6 yard curl and tight red zone box out pass catcher with soft hands for his size...

If you put hazel on the ps he's getting snatched up for sure.

They'll let this competition go down to the wire, to see who's the best and to account for injuries. who makes it is anyones guess.

One thing is clear. This staff plans on putting this WR core through a very tough camp and sees who's standing at the end.

For WR is really only comes down to the 5th and 6th spots...If Gibson is healthy, your main 4 are going to be Wallace, Hartline, Landry, and Ginson...

The 5th and 6th spot is really only down to Binns, Hazel, and Matthews...I would give the edge to Matthews for one spots (due to the team taking time to work out its issues with the player)...depending on what they do with TE (3/4) will influence WR's 6th spot. Not sure who makes it out of the 2....I will say that Binns has always done well in camp....just a victim of injuries....would probably give the edge to him.

TE...Clay, Sims and Lynch are locks...the 4th spot (if they carry 4) is going to come down to whether or not the team wants another TE or HB hybrid...I still think Egnew is the odd man out...2 years...2 off-seasons and he is still a player in flux. Yes Clay was sort of in the same situation, but Clay flashed...a lot, just didn't have the consistency...Engew has never flashed.

I agree with the above list also, and think Binns has an excellent chance of making the final roster. Of course injuries could change things.

more likely with how heavy i expect this playbook to be on 2 tight end sets to work that late motion with the 2 tight ends i think you keep 4 tight ends and 5 wrs...but the question becomes does a 4th tight end validate a roster spot...i'm fairly confident that a 6th wr would be a better player than a 4th tight end with what we have but you aren't gonna get much run for a 6th wr and likely wouldn't even activate a 6th one barring specials and i don't think that's a strength of binns enough to even validate it...not to mention the guys been completely not dependable health wise...

at tight end you are one injury away from having to scrap some of your playbook over no depth in 2 tight end sets if you only keep 3...let's be honest if this team cuts binns odds are good he's still on the street should we need him down the road due to injury etc...hazel i think you could probably barring a major camp showing and preseason showing hide on the p squad if you want...and you could always limit the exposure by not giving him much run in preseason games where teams can get a good look at him...you cut mathews and i'd bet money someone would scoop that rather quickly...a team like green bay would value his skill set with the physical player and run after the catch thru contact...and at 600k no less...i mean don't be stupid miami

all that said jarvis landry when he gets his chance is gonna make good on it but we'd be better served to roll with the players we know and philbin knows in 2014 and the 2nd round pick all things being equal...none of these guys are making so much money who could be cut it should matter...don't take win option wrs away from your qb in a must win season for your head coach...

at tight end hoskins is a player this team could probably hide on the p squad should he show well enough...i wouldn't sweat that right now...it's about egnew or a 6th wr...neither is all that exciting and both are probably replaced in a season anyways...i have no doubts miami is not done at tight end with what we have in 2015 etc...nor should they be

Hoops I'm thinking 6 wr, 4 tight ends and only 3 running backs. I would rather have three rb's on the 53 man roster and one on the practice squad.
