we have Chambers, Booker, Campbell, Hagan, Welker, Aromashodu and Gibson. also now we found out that we might be bringing Boston back again. only 5 WRs are kept on the 53 man roster. So who are the 5 WRs who make the team?

personnally I like it would be a mistake to bring Boston back again. we had him for 2 years now and both years he ended up on IR. he no doubt has talent but he's injury prone. I don't think Fred Gibson stands any chance of making the team, there's a reason he was cut by Pittsburgh. Aromashodu may be the odd man out. he is a very good looking WR but he may not make the roster simply because we have 5 WRs better at this point in their careers. we could end up with 6 WRs on the roster but I just don't see Saban doing that.

we have multiple WRs with returning skills. Aromashodu returned kicks in college for Auburn and did pretty well. Welker of course we all know has been our returner for the past 2 years and has done well. Campbell is a very fast guy and has been returning kicks for Minn for years. so we don't have to decide to keep a guy just because he's our returner since we have multiple guys who can do it. thus the guys who play WR the best should make the final roster

all of that said I think Chambers, Booker, Hagan, Campbell and Aromashodu should be our final 5 wideouts. Welker is simply not as good of a WR as all of the other players. we could have either Campbell or Aromashodu handle our returns

I see it like this

WR Chris Chambers
WR Marty Booker
WR Derek Hagan
WR Kelly Campbell
WR Wes Welker

I see Welker putting more time in punt and kick off returns!! He will come out in Critical situations as a 5th WR or even a 4th at most

Boston won't be back, his knees are too messed up.

I like our prospects at WR all of a sudden......

In the end I think you will see Chambers, Booker, Welker, Campbell, Hagan with Aromashodu on the practice squad. I am still rooting for Gibson, but I think that us drafting 2 WR's after bring in Campbell was pretty telling.

I also think that you under-estimate Welker......he is a VERY good returner and has also player fine at WR whenever given the chance. Right now, I have to believe that, all things considered, he is better than a 7th round draft pick.

Also, what are you referring to when you say that, "now we found out that we might be bringing Boston back again"?? I would not be in favor of that move.

Welker has something that you really can't measure in a player. He has heart and toughness which is two things that are qualities that you will find in a good WR. He may not be as tall or as fast as the others but he finds ways to get open and makes a pretty good 3rd down type of receiver. Welker is probably going to make the team more as a KR/PR more than anything. He's just the type of guy that his attitude is contagous to the others in the locker room.

:yeahthat:

except i see Campell as the #3 Wideout to start the season...

I'm thinking more along the lines of this

1 - Chambers
2 - Booker
3 - Welker
4 - Hagan
5 - Campbell

Devin and Campbell will fight for the 5th spot, but Campbell will edge Devin out because of ST skills.

If Hagan isn't a bust and a year under Devin's belt, Next year on the other hand I see it like this

1 - Chambers
2 - Hagan
3 - Welker Devin
4 - Devin
5 - Campbell or FA/Draft pick

Booker gets cut or traded in 07.

campbell wont be the 3rd wr for too long. if we think hagan has star potential then hes gotta be on the field for more than just a few 4 wr sets. hagan will be the 3 by sometime in the second half of the season

Guys i personally would not be to surprise to see Campbell not make the team. the guy has been out of the game for year. if anything hagan was specifically brought as our 3rd WR.welker is a lock so is booker and chambers. The battle will be against kelly and Devin if Devin wins ,Kelly get cut......

Chambers, Booker, and Hagan are givens. So, it's a battle for the final 2 spots.
Kelley Campbell doesn't bring much to the table. He's only 5'10, 171 lbs. He's very fast. He returned kicks in 2 of his 4 seasons, and was nothing special (21.7 yard average). He never returned punts. In 2005, he was arrested on weapons and drug charges. In September, the Vikings released him, and no other team picked him up all season.
Welker is only 5'9, but 185 lbs, and caught more balls last season than Campbell has in any season of his career. He's averaged 22.9 yards on kick returns, and 9.9 yards on punt returns. He's also coming off ankle surgery.
Gibson is 6'4, 196 lbs, and runs a 4.55 50. When he was drafted, he was said to have first round skills. He was a good kick returner at Georgia (25 yards per). We haven't seen him play, so have no idea if he's improved after ayear on the practice squad.
Aromashodu is 6'2, 205 lbs, and runs a 4.35. He needs some coaching to polish his route running skills. He was a good kick returner at Auburn.

I think Campbell has no shot. He's too small, has too much baggage, and just isn't that good.
Ultimately, I think Welker sticks because of his versatility and his attitude. He's too small to be an effective target in the passing game, but he has good hands and can contribute if needed. So, the last spot comes down to a battle between Gibson and Aromashodu.

I hope it is..

Chambers 1
Booker 2
Hagan 3
Welker 4
Aromashadu 5

It should be an interesting camp battle between welker, aromashadu, Campbell, and you can through Fred Gibson into the mix aswell.

IMO CC, Booker, Hagan and Welker are locks. Campbell, Boston (if he returns) and Aromashodu will battle for the fifth spot. GIbson or Aromashodu will end up on the practice squad.

Chambers
booker
hagan
cambell
aromashouda
welker
i hope welker is just a KR but not a WR he cant get up for the ball that great he only has a 30 inch vertical
