In the NFL, you need to be physically and mentally tough...maybe Sabsn can knock some sense into this kid.

You just said he's a kid so that's why we shouldn't be worried. People can get emotional. He'll mature and get through it. It's no big deal.

My Take....Manuel was probably feeling pretty good he was having his way with Seth and looking like the "Golden boy" probably getting some praise from the coaches during drills....Saban then notices (and was probably looking for) him slacking during sprints and does what any coach would do and Rips him a new one....Now after feeling pretty good about himself Manuel gets a rather large dose of criticism and im sure in that moment of berating one of the last things on his mind was "what are the other players thinking?" in that moment in his young life it was just him and his coach.. and im pretty sure if Nick told him "See that wall ?? Run through it!" he would have been off like a Rocket. Sounds like good coaching to me and he is giving Manuel EXACTLY what he needs some tough love.

*EDIT* Im sure he will be able to handle the locker room Jibes It might even make him nastier.... I can see It now Olindo calling him a Baby...

*DOUBLE EDIT* Copied from other thesaurus... maybe some wants to read it..

I really don't see why people are making this such a BIG deal. Some of you people are going alittle bit overboard over this.

I hope I don't break down and cry from all of the **** I'm gonna take tomorrow at work because we drafted a big p***y.

C'mon, when was the last time you heard of a player crying because the coach yelled at him?? Pop Warner? :shakeno:

Dude Ive seen quite a few grown men cry and usually the first person to point a finger and laugh got their a$$es kicked. theres crying watching moonstruck and then there is crying because your feel like your head is going to explode.

Rookie

He was crying because he was so fat that he could not reach down to tie his laces and was sad. Im a Dolphins fan"true and true" but when you draft and out of shape lineman who is very young. You get frustration and tears, but thats ok to get emotional about the game. I would take that over losing passion for the game! I bet he will be eating RB,s/QB,s for B,L,D on sundays.:evil::evil:

Just posted this in the other thread:

Saban on post-practice interview at official site:

Manny Wright, who was in and out of practice today as well as last night in a red-shirt, ya know ya got a guy who came out for the supplemental draft, he's probably not in as good a shape as he needs to be in, having some of the same, ya know, issues and problems [as Kevin Vickerson] with soreness, tight back, these types of things, so we're trying to work him and manage him through it as best we can.

As you well know young players need to develop the kind of mental toughness and
attitude that they need to be professionals, so we're trying to help him with that too, aight, which, maybe we need to get on him a little bit at times, which, I got on him about what we wanted him to try to do at least today to work himself through it and he responded well to it.

This was thrown out In the context of after having first discussed Owen Thompson (new OL), Kevin Vickerson, then Wright (followed by RopeWeed convo). Sounds like someone's making a big todo about nothing.

There should be @ least a little concern over this. I don't know about everyone else but I don't think I've ever read anywhere a NFL player cried over criticism regarding his play.

Nope..no concern here. Next topic please.

"I got on him about what we wanted him to try to do at least today, to try and work himself through it, and he responded well to it," Saban said.

This is the most important part.
