Dolphins | Rookie Wright Signed
Fri, 22 Jul 2005 13:17:37 -0700

MiamiDolphins.com reports the Miami Dolphins have signed rookie DT Manuel Wright to a four-year contract. The team selected him in the recent supplemental draft.

thank u. hopefully this starts a domino affect with the others

This is great news. I am glad that Wright will be in camp on time because he sure does need to. Now we just need to sign Brown, Roth, Crowder, Alabi and Vickerson.

Where are ll those people who thought Bowens was the odd man out in this defense?

Good because Wright is going to need every second he can get if he hopes to make the final roster...

ummmmm...That may have been me or someone who looks like me...:harm:

I was one of those peolpe, who thought that bowens was the odd man out.
That was before mini-camp though.
He was all over the field!!, and his interception was nice.
And he gave me his autograph, and was very nice about it. I'm glad i was wrong, and i hope he has a good season as a DE/LB.
Go David!

Bowens could be a really good fit for the Saban defense with his ability to play both DE in the 4 -3 and OLB in the 3-4.

Still don't think Bowens would have made it to opening day if he didn't restructure his $2.8 million cap hit. Glad he did and look forward to seeing him in the hybrid LB/DE role.

David Bowens has solidified his role as the direct backup and substitute for Jason Taylor's position. He has played exceedingly well through mini-camps, and he should be rewarded. He will play the same up/down position that Jason Taylor will, and some times he will give JT a break, sometimes he will mirror him on the left side.

The "odd man out" at this point is much more likely to be Vonnie Holliday, as I've been saying for quite a while...and this becomes even more true with the addition of Manuel Wright.

Well, actually the true "odd man out" is Kevin Vickerson. The team has withdrawn its offer to him and I believe it likely that he will not sign with the Phins and he will re-enter the NFL draft next year.

Why would Holliday be the odd man out, especially with Vickerson shatting the bed? Why would we toss out a player we require at very least for depth to run our system, especially one that has played very well in the past, is still relatively young, and is signed for a song?

I'm pretty sure they offered him less money, not withdrew their offer.

WOOOHHHOOOOO!

:mdfin::mdfin::mdfin:

I always did say D-Bowens would be an integral part on this defense. He's too quick and has too good of a motor to let go.
