Write To The Nfl Now! Feedback, Phone Calls, Whatever You Can Do!

For me personally I hope they move the game to Saturday. I live in the area where they are predicting the eye of Hurricane Jeane to hit, and I am sure that I will be losing power on Sunday morning (at the latest) so if they move the game to Saturday I should be able to watch it.:) If it is Sunday or later then I am sure that I will have to miss a game for the first time in years.:fire: Anyway, I hope it works out for all the Fin fans to be able to watch.
See! You're the type of Dolphins fan that totally pisses me off. I'd kill to be that close to a home game. I live 13 hours away by car. Last year I drove to Jacksonville the night before the game and drove home right after the game. It's a 6-7 hour drive for me to Jacksonville. Do you have any IDEA what it's like to bleed Aqua and Orange and be so far away. This will be two times this year, that I've had to make other arrangements to see the game live and believe you me, I WILL SEE THE GAME LIVE. Directv is totally screwing us faithful fans stuck outside of the local viewing area. I haven't missed a Dolphins game live, since Directv started the ticket. If I lived 6 hours or less driving distance to see the Dolphins, I'd be at every home game, preseason included yelling and screaming my head off!:yell:

Save your time

I'd suggest writing your representatives, but I highly doubt that they would get off their cans and get this resolved in time for it to matter.

Though I've not read that 1961 law, I'm pretty sure it applies to broadcast over the public airways not satelite and maybe even not cable if no part of the signal is broadcast over public airways. This technology didn't exist then.
That said, though I don't think the fans have much influence in their decision.

I'm pretty sure that the NFL and DTV have lawyers who have read the 1961 law and who have strong opinions about all of this that no fans are going to change.

If you're right about the law, it could actually be the contract between DTV and the NFL (or between the networks and the NFL) that gets in the way. I wouldn't be happy about DTV getting an exclusive game that belonged to me if I were CBS...

Even beyond that, how does DTV show an exclusive game? They don't have a staff or equipment to go it alone, and why would CBS help them out?

You're probably right about the back room contract. However the game would probably draw better than average ratings if it's shown live considering there are no other games on at the time.

They could work some kind of arrangement either for Directv users (Sunday ticket people) only, or for the entire country, and get the extra ratings. I'm sure CBS and DIrectv wouldn't mind broadcasting an NFL Saturday night special.

Eh who am I kidding. They're not that creative to begin with I guess...

I'll just have to settle for the tape delay on Sunday which they can do because they did it in week one. (Right?)

I sent an email.........I agree with CK , I think if we overload their email box , we might get their attention. I mean, regardless of the law, they have to at least consider some type of leniency. I doubt college football would be devastated if they broadcast the frickin game. I would think they could make an exception considering what the state of florida has went through already.

The problem with that article is that, as Pro Football Talk pointed out when they found out the laws exactly as that article explains them, the NFL DID allow broadcast of the game within 75 miles of college football games that were being played on that Saturday. Specifically in some of the markets they broadcast to in Tennessee.

Come on down to Naples.... we'll have it here.

Man, we have no right to railroad a football game out of "it's for poor Florida". That isn't cool at all.

The fans will once again be left with nothing. The NFL really doesn't care. I wrote to NFL and DirecTV, but it will make no difference. Just move the game to Pittsburgh and let it be broadcast. For the Dolphins it really wouldn't matter - since there wouldn't be any boos rolling down from the crowd. Of course, AJ probably wouldn't be allowed to try the shotgun if they moved the game. All I want is the ability to see the game on TV...

This distraction of storms and team issues is going to make this a LONG season.

(I'm just so peeved, I really can't think coherently. I'm started to hate the entire NFL. Next time I'm in NYC...)

If I remember correctly, the NFL and the Teams that play own all the rights to each game and never relinquish that ownership. They license specific broadcast, distribution and public perfomance rights in contracts with the various entities (DTV, CBS, FOX etc) that are so specific that the special problems are not provided for in a way that can handle all the contigencies. They could be foreseen with enough specificity. The entities that record various games do not own those recordings, the NFL and teams playing retain the ownership. Thats how you see CBS and FOX feeds rebroadcast live down here on the Mexican boarder. TVAzteca broadcast from Mexico and included in the local cable lineup is scheduled to carry the Fins-Steelers. If they move it to Sat though, I don't know.

Railroad a football game? What is that supposed to mean ? Fans of every other team in the NFL have the option of watching their favorite team play football, why would should we be any different ? Saturday, Sunday, Monday, it really shouldn't F'in matter. JUST PUT THE DAMN THING ON ! :fire:

I'm using railroad in an informal way. It means, "To rush or push (something) through quickly in order to prevent careful consideration and possible criticism or obstruction."

What happened to your "poor Florida" argument? :rolleyes2

I think it is stupid. People should have the right to watch what game they want to watch. This is ridiculous. Its not like you will have an effect on the game one way or the other sitting at home watching the game.

Poor Florida was not what I was getting at. I was simply saying that their should be exceptions to the law. In extreme circumstances,(such as a hurricane or four) that their has to be a way it can be worked out.

I'm a pretty laid back person but if the NFL moves the game and causes me to miss ANOTHER game I'm going to go off so ****ing bad. I'm gonna feel really sorry for the person I call at the NFL. Or the person I call at DirecTV. They better not move the game.

Start Dialing... the 11 o'clock news puts the storm landing anywhere from Miami to Vero Beach on Sunday AM.

You guys don't get it... things happen around here when a hurricane is coming.

Airports close a day ahead of time. The interstates are more crowded than usual - people are trying to save their butts. There is no way any Emergency Officials would allow a game to go on with so much imminent danger present.

I wish DirecTv would have a clause in the contract to have the game televised live. But I believe it's out of their control. They'd do it if allowed.

But I can agree - that so far this football season sucks. From the looming storms to the injuries to the rest of the problems. It's been a hard year to be a Miami Dolphins fan.
